Default Chicago show any good?

Is this show this weekend worth attending? Or is it mostly autograph folk?

Default Worth it

Yes, worth attending. Plenty of vintage dealers. Not the same quantity of dealers as in the past, that just means you can take your time shopping. Yes, there are a lot of autograph guests. Stay away from the May/June show, as that one is primarily autograph guests.

It's gonna be a busy weekend in Rosemont. WWE has four consecutive shows across the village at Allstate Arena. Won't impact traffic or parking, but it will reduce hotel availability.

Default I like Rosemont but haven't gone to other Chitown shows except the National....

I think shows could become more prevalent with the issues in the hobby concerning collectors. (*not necessarily dealers, but collectors)

I will be at this show all weekend and have been at every show that is held at Donald E. Stephen for the past 11 years. I would agree that the May/June show does have a serious lack of cards.

There is a big car show at the convention center this weekend also. If you want to see some rare and expensive muscle cars stop by the car show.

I have wondered if it might not be the opposite actually. In person dealers prefer cash/check generally. For buyers this means no protection if something ends up not checking out upon further review (friends, graders, research, Blow Out, etc) in the couple of weeks following a sale.

This assumes that most collectors cannot easily detect these alterations on the spot, which seems pretty safe given what it has taken to expose some of the altered cards. If I have to choose between buying a $3000 card with a check at a show or a $3000 card with a credit card online through a system that offers at least some protection, I will pick the latter.
