I’m not sure why, but in my snapshot journey it seems that Japan simply didn’t take fan photos prior to the 70s/80s. You would think seeing candid shots of Sadaharu Oh on deck or being waved to look at fans cameras would be like finding snaps of Ruth, abundant. But I have never seen a single snapshot of any professional Japanese player on a field from a period where Americans did it so frequently. Maybe it is (or was) a cultural thing. Great accomplishment by the way.
