Default Can we start talking about National, now?

Posted By: tbob

I know it's still a little early but I would appreciate a little info on the Chicago National vis a vis Cubs tickets (are the Forum 54 Board guys going together and have someone to get tickets or do I need to start scraping around for tickets?), places the Forum 54 guys are staying and eating (will there be a get together meal, etc?) etc.
Any insight will be appreciated.
Bob

Tickets already went on sale for the Cubs. I couldn't even get into the web-site. Pretty much all the tickets are sold for the Thu-Sat games during the National.

Good time for airline tickets - prices seemed very low. LA to Chicago non-stop is currently $178 on American.

is national really worth attending to buy cards ( ie. pre-war) ?

i know the selection is probably better than Ebay, but are the prices inflated?

i would like to attend just to see everything offered, but i would feel better about going if i knew there may be a deal or two...

thanks,
gary

I assume that it is in Chicago but what are the dates and place? I have not been to a National for more then 25 years ago when it was held in Anaheim.

Yeah, that Anaheim show was a total zoo. I think the National is well worth it. Even if you can't find anything, you can network, make some connections and talk to fellow collectors.

It's in Rosemont, Illinois with hotels within walking distance of the convention center, Morton's Steak House, A killer Deep Dish Pizza Restaurant around the corner and Chicago is a great vacation destination. It's July 27-31 and all the info can be traced to the Official Site here:

I found some cards last year that had been on my impossible want list for ages and at very reasonable prices. Plus I had a great time with the guys from this board.
