wonder what they are talking about?...

Babe is probably talking about his female conquests or braggin about the size of his bat.

Are they sitting on a rope that helps support the batting cage?

Jason, you're thinking of Brother Mathias. This guy is too small to be him, but I wonder if this isn't the same Baltimore reform School that the Babe attended? Not sure but the picture came from Christy Walsh's (The Babe's business manager) estate.

I wonder what happened in 1938 that these guys are wearing black armbands?

edited to add: Google is my friend...found out why the Dodgers wore armbands in 1938....Team President Stephen McKeever died.

Found these, I think they are from the 1930's as they have the Pageant of Progress on the outfield fence. I also believe they are from Comiskey as the scoreboard has Chicago Tribune on it. The third photo I call the ghosts of the Black Sox. It has a nice no betting sign painted on the fence.

Great photos Clint, they are Comiskey park in 1921. The "Pageant of Progress" was organized in 1921 along the Municpal Pier (Navy Pier) in Chicago. I can see "Municipal Pier" in one of your photos also.

Rob, love those snapshots.

Keep 'em coming guys.

I've looked and looked and still cannot identify Cy in the picture. The only player I'm sure of is Jimmy Collins, third from the right. Should be able to ID Parent and Criger who were on the team but I can't.

I collect original news photos, and wire photos of pre war. Mostly Foxx, gehrig, and Ruth. Huge difference by the way. Although everyone on E bay calls them wire photos. When in actuality, this lumps them all together on e bay, which makes them easier to locate. I have over 70 originals of Foxx, Ruth and gehrig. Some pre war williams, and some early hack Wilson. No reprints here. If and when I can get my scanner up, I will post some. My favorite ones are the players doing non baseball things. Foxx showing his son how to bat, sitting around the Christmas tree, bowling, liftimg weights, hunting with Lefty Grove, etc. etc. I have quite a few from the 34 Japan tour.

This one is interesting and brought up a bit of interest when I posted this on this board in 2004.

This is a 1904 tintype that appears to have come from Del Howard's estate. The picture shows George Moriarty, Del Howard, Carl Lundgren and Davy Jones. The image was apparently done in Brooklyn. GM, CL and DJ all played for the Cubs in 1904 but I am not sure how Del Howard fits into this. All of the names are written in pencil on the paper cover and the man in the middle of the back row is listed as "Gande - who took us through China Town tonite." Any thoughts from anyone who didn't see this in 2004?

BTW, the guy in the upper left is listed as "Lowe" and I believe is Bobby Lowe who did play for the Cubs in 1903.
