Thought i would share this picture and ticket i recently got framed...
The stub and picture are both from July 14, 1948...
It was an exhibition game at Cleveland Stadium...Dodgers vs Indians...
The photo is a Type 1 also so i thought it would be cool to frame them up together...

That display looks great Andy! As a ticket and vintage photo collector, I love the idea of displaying them together.

Default Cy Young Win 511 Ticket

I was thrilled to come across this last week! After some research, Game 68 ticket was Cy Young's last win. Only 1208 people attended the game!

Paul, big congrats not only on winning that ticket book but for being smart enough to do the research to find out that great info on Cy Young's last win.

Great job! What a cool stub. And overall piece. Congrats again.

Thanks Peter! The ticket was cool, but I do love the overall piece. The ticket book was from Mrs. Elmer Steele, wife of Pirates pitcher.

Picked this up in an auction back in the Spring. Off at PSA getting slabbed now. To my knowledge, it is the oldest known acknowledged 'Championship Game' ticket on record for College Football

Greg- awesome early Boston stub. I have a very similar example, framed with same circa Highlanders' stub. I've done a decent amount of research, and I do believe yours (and mine) are either 1903 or 1904...same typography as the 1903 WS stubs. Very rare, and special. Congrats. I'll post mine later.

I'm not a ticket collector but I do have a particular interest in the 1912 World Series. Joe Wood beat Jeff Tesreau in the first game at the Polo Grounds. It was after this game that Smoky Joe said "I threw so hard I thought my arm would fly right off my body."

Love the ticket Drew! It's interesting in that it wasn't really a "Championship" in the way we think about, rather just a "game" between Harvard and Yale played in the middle of the season. In this context "Championship" is synonymous with "Game". Each team would play 6 or 7 games that year, and after this game Yale would go on to play two more games against Columbia and Princeton.

1st - what are the odds of 2 Ben's posting back to back in a thread.

So to the Ben with "the catch" stub, what I think is cool is its a Bleacher Ticket from that game, so fun to imagine the person who had this ticket their view of "the catch."

If Ben #1 wants to trade his amazing 1912 ticket for my 1954 ticket, I'd be happy to =) I'm reading The First Fall Classic right now, about the 1912 Series, and I highly recommend it to any baseball fan.

Shoeless - Definitely fun to think about the person sitting in the bleachers witnessing the catch.

As many of you know I collect scored programs.

In the process of procuring programs for my collection, I picked up these from HRs #1 and #660 by Willie Mays.

Looks like #1 is a proof, and #660 is just a stub.

Any idea on values for them?

I would probably be interested in letting them go.

Doug

Those are sweet Doug! I'd think that 660 stub would go for $400-$500. Looks to be in nice shape. The first HR proof is a tough one to guess a price. I've seen two full season ticket book proofs go in the $1200 range.

This is a great thread...I wish I had something worthy to post!

Just curious if anyone has ever seen a Willie Stargell MLB debut stub? If you happen to have one you'd be interested in parting with please let me know.

I had to laugh, knowing that you can buy "I was there" items on the collector's market. RIP to bragging rights obtained through the possession of ticket stubs.

Of course, if you plan to, er, misbehave in such a manner, don't be stupid and claim you were at a game that took place before you were born.

I haven't ever really kept track of when programs I buy have tickets or stubs, so I've been going thru my programs looking for them.

Here are a few I found today, attached to their respective program.

Koufax No Hitter #2, May 11, 1963

Koufax No Hitter #4 (perfect game), Sept 9, 1965

Hunter Perfect game, May 8, 1968

Wow! Great finds. Of I were you, I'd be checking the pockets of every pair of pants I own for hundred dollar bills.

I have over 6,000 programs, but the no hitter box was the first I looked in, it will be downhill from here...

eBay find. Were any other World Series tickets sold together like this?

Hi Hank, I'm pretty sure there were a few other years around that era that had that type of ticket. I know I have seen some before. I think this is the first 1924 full one that I have seen. Wonder why game 7 wasn't on it?

PS I think I met you at the Baltimore National. I mentioned that I read your book, well I have it on Audible LOL.

Hi Randall,
I was set up at both Baltimore nationals. For the seventh game, it says "reservation for this ticket (not same seat number) will be placed on sale between 4 and 10 p.m. the day before." It also provides for a refund if no game six. I can't remember seeing another world series strip like this one.

I have seen several of these 1924 strips, three different colors in fact, but don't remember seeing any like this from another world series.
