Thumbs up A Pleasant Surprise

About 5 years ago I purchased the 2008, 75th Anniversary Collector's Edition, Lone Ranger DVD set. There was an envelope of extras that was included with the set. I never took time to look through all the extra items until recently. One of the items in the envelope was a packet of 1950 Lone Ranger trading cards. Five strips of 3 cards each. I read that these were the only card series which depicts Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels in their roles as the Lone Ranger and Tonto. Very nice fun cards; I was really surprised.

Cool!

I recognize Edgar Bergen in one picture, but is that Ben Johnson in the first picture on the bottom row?

Thanks for sharing

I'm not sure about Johnson. I'll have to look it up. I just received information from a guy that these cards are not originals. Shucks! At least the rush I had discovering them, exceeds my disappointment.

Yeah, a bit of a bummer that the company did not feel it was necessary to put they were reprints on them. The only sign is the yellow borders and the "T.L.R. Inc." printed on the pack and the back of each.

I saw that others have been fooled on ebay and one of these packs sold for 85 dollars a few weeks ago and was represented as 1950.
