Default 1954 Johnston Cookies uncut sheet

Posted By: Paul Grubor

I just got a call from a person here in Wisconsin that has a 1954 Johnston Cookies uncut sheet. Has anyone ever of or seen one of these? Also, they are interested in selling the item but I'm not sure what a fair price would be.
My guess would be at least $3000.00 if the condition is em to nm or better.
Any help regarding this would surely be appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

offer to auction the item and take a %. those are pretty scarce so you don't want to over pay.

Looks like the REA auction only had a portion of a REAL UNCUT SHEET! This person has a sheet that consists of 234 cards...18 X 14. Now, What is the real uncut sheet worth?

Hi Anthony, How much more than three thousand? I really want to buy the item and pay a fair price. would an offer of six thousand be fair? Its so hard buying unique items because there's no track record.

it looks as if there would be 6 sets+ on that sheet, so if you use the REA auction as a guide, that sheet there could go for well over $25,000 at auction. the REA auction is from 2004.

The sheet appears to be 18 cards by 13 cards. Shouldn't it be 18x14? Am I missing something here?

Good catch Leslie. In comparison to the REA sheet it looks like the bottom 3 groups do not have the double print Logan to Walters row that the top 3 groups have. Thus making those 6 cards 1.5 prints instead of double prints.

Well the person that has this piece emailed me and told me they were offered $40,000.00 for the sheet back in 1977. She then added that a panel of 42 sold for $8000.00 at an auction. I emailed her back and told her good luck and God bless! I was going to offer her $8000.00 but I didn't even bother after reading her email. Oh well, guess I'll just keep buying those 50's and 60's cards. Thanks for all your help and comments.

With the next person, she'll probably claim she got an offer of $50,000 in 1967.

I remember a eager email seller trying to convince me that the 1987 Topps Mark McGwire would be the next T206 Honus Wagner, with asking price commensurate. I told him I didn't think the 1987 Topps Mark McGwire would be the next 1991 Topps Chipper Jones.
