Default Womens Baseball Postcards

from correspondence a while back with Deb S. re: Womens Baseball, I told her I would post some Womens Baseball items I have...some of these postcards show up from time to time but there are a few rarities as well (also shown are two SUB ROSA CIGARETTES tobacco cards and a scorecard - the scorecard is actually the reverse of the bottom right postcard in the fourth scan).

the photo postcard with the clipped corners is titled "RED SOX vs BOSTON BLOOMER GIRLS, SHELBY (Michigan), AUGUST 5, 1913", and was mailed from Shelby on August 11, the message mentioning "just a card to let you know we're still alive" and was sent from "from your sister Augusta" (one of the players? - couldn't find a roster, so don't know whether or not there was an "Augusta" that played for the team).

Default Very interesting, Four.

I didn't know girls baseball was such a big deal. I've never seen any of these except types like the two at the bottom numbered 6 and 7. Are you able to add to these relatively often?

Wonder why so many teams were called Bloomer Girls?

I better sign off. I'm having politically incorrect thoughts.

Thanks you for sharing. I always enjoy something new. (New to me that is.)

Jerry, there are lots of different Bloomer Girl postcards and they pop up on ebay regularly...they got that name from the type of uniform they wore - Bloomers.

I actually have a bloomer girl uniform from Blue Springs, Nebraska. Have not seen too many ever offered.

And once again FourStrikes great stuff...thanks for sharing!
