Default W554 Ruth

Posted By: Anonymous

I picked up a W554 Ruth in a recent auction and was wondering about the scarcity of this issue. I have only seen this card listed once on eBay in the past year. I assume that it is much more scarce than the R316 Kashin version with the same photo, but since the card is very large, I don't think that any of the "big three" grading companies encapsulate it. Hence, there is no pop report. Anyone know how tough this issue is? I have heard different opinions on this issue.

I would say that the W554's are more scarce than the R316's, but I wouldn't say that they are anywhere near impossible to find. The W554's come with and without the bottom script, but I'm not sure that either one of the variations is more rare than the other. Which variation did you get?

I also own a W554 Ruth with the bottom script, & I have owned the "no script" variation in the past. They are definetely harder to find then the R316 kashin's. I don't understand why PSA cant come up with inserts for their T3 holders to slab some of the larger cards. To heck with the grading companies. Looks like we now have a POP report of three so far

Try finding the rarest W554 Ruth, the one with the ad on back. Here is one (not Ruth) that just sold a minute ago on eBay misidentified as a Kashin.

That seller had some good stuff today, I picked of the very rare R316 "Made in USA" (Canadian?) variation Jimmie Foxx.
