Default 511 wins, an amount never to be equaled again.

Good ole Cy...

He'll never make the Hall. They say it's because of his longevity.

I once read a quote from Cy Young to a reporter that at first I found funny, but then after really thinking about it, it may have literally been true.

He said to the reporter: "I have won more games than you have seen".

Classic.

Poor Cy! Didn't he ever ask to be on a pitch count?

Anybody who loses 317 games can't be all that good.

Many don't think we'll see a 300 game winner again...let alone 511!

316 losses is almost more unbreakable than 511 wins... a team is much more likely with stick with a guy going 25-4 for 20 years, as opposed to 4-25

Just added this M116 (don't mind the qualifier at all) to my modest Cy collection..
M116 Cy Young.jpg
.. and a couple others

Makes you wonder if when he didn't get elected to the Hall of Fame in the first vote he thought "Man, I wish I won 600".

It's also interesting that most historians are quick to talk about how good Matty and Walter J. were during this time. Not much talk of ole Cy in comparison to those two guys...Yes, Mathewson and Johnson were in the infancy of their careers, and Young was winding down in his. Still, it almost seems that there is a majority sense of the other two being significantly better than Cy Young, regardless of ages.....

I no longer own this card. Strange to see him with a bat in hand, but he was a pretty good hitter too!
