Strong prices on some great photos. Loved the Branch Rickey playing days and some other wonderful images like the girl striking out the Babe. Great stuff RMY! Wish the Babe Herman Conlon stayed within reach. Hope ya'll got something fun to share. Got my first Van Oeyen!

Any idea why the Hank Aaron by Emmons is over $1,100.00?

That's about 8 times what I thought it would go for. Is there something especially rare or unusual about it?

Jackie tagging Yogi in 1955 WS was pricey too! Some fireworks tonight.

Thought the same thing(more like double though not 8x)but it's pretty.. only takes two to to tango. 1100 can come quickly so not that surprised. Now if it was 2-3 k i'd smh.
That jackie/berra tag is not even pretty.. but it is tge same year as the famous "safe" tag with those two so i guess that is what drove it? Again.. 1k can come quick and be justified(2-3k or higher it better be special to most).

I bought a pretty signed monte. I am glad no one else thought it was especially pretty and 1k + justified
Another great auction Rhys!

Completely baffled on that one. Considering it sold pretty recently for ALOT lower but if thats the direction Hank photos are going then I couldnt be happier

Well, if I were selling it, I would've been thrilled to get 150 bucks. That's what I seemed to get for very nice NRMT photos of 1960s superstars. I've always felt that Emmons is the premier post-war photographer. But his stuff isn't super-rare, and has never been that pricey.

Oh well.... I know where I'm going to consign photos when the time comes.

Yes, emmons does hold a premium. I have seen them exceed 1000 multiple times. I have also seen them go for the range you speak of including the one below. As always, it depends on the image and how many peeps love it who are bidding/how much money they have Any one image is rare. But i agree.. went high..but not that high for two emotional bidders.. 1k can come quick!

Is it just me or did the price of photos explode? Not only Type I, but Type II's and Type III's as well. Not to mention Ruth playing days photos are now thru the ruth. I mean roof.

I was just thinking about that...Type 2's and 3's are all of the sudden starting to command more money. Even prices of generic photos of Ruth not in uniform are starting to rise.

It's funny though, on some items, the price seemed low. I picked up this pre=rookie DiMaggio for quite a bit under my hi bid.

And even with the crease, I thought this Ruth went cheap.

Great pickup! I really love pics used for cards. Congrats.

I lost out on a couple team photos I had my eye on, but picked up a Brooklyn tour of Japan image to display with my travel bag.

How did I miss this one??? Great pick-up. You're lucky I didn't see it as I have a pretty good collection of early Irvin items. I did manage to pick up my two favorite photos from the auction. A photo of Pee Wee Reese from 1939 while with the Louisville team and a nice Spring straining 1938 photo of Joe Gordon. Who knew he had such hops??!!
