Default National pickups

I was torn between posting these in the July pickups thread, starting an August pickups thread early or starting a thread just for National pickups. Because the July thread already is long and not wanting to deprive Bob of starting the August thread later today, I went with option No.3.

Finally picking up an E101 Lajoie, despite the poor condition, would have made the show a success for me on its own. Landing a Baltimore Newsboy Lajoie was way beyond my expectations.

Editorial: There's so much to be said for being able to hold a card in your hand, look the seller in the eye and negotiate a price that's void of a buyer's penalty and shipping and "handling" costs. Plus, you're not worried about being shilled or losing out on a card "selling" to another "bidder," then seeing the same card turn up for sale on the auction house's table or in another of its auctions down the line.

Definitely a good time in Cleveland.

Looks like you did some business with Luckey & co. Glad you landed an E101 Lajoie; see you at dinner.
Nice pickups!

Rob,
Nice cards. Noticed your address. 1 Happy Street. You have every reason to be happy. I am envious. I am just starting over hoping to slowly buy neat cards like these after selling all my vintage stuff 15 or so years ago. Yeah I was stupid.
Thanks for sharing.
