On the back of the card right above the word "baseball" there appears to be something written on the card to me that looks the the number "3". Is my vision getting worse than it already is?

Michael,

Thank you for the question...there is no writing on the card, I had to take a very close look at that as well under magnification. It is just some sort of print from when the card was manufactured, I am certain PSA would have hit the card with an (MK) qualifier if it was something unnatural to the printing process.
