Default Vote for Worst Condition Card on EBAY

Posted By: Patrick McMenemy

Thought I would start a new post with my choice for Worst Condition card on EBAY. In order to qualify for this award, the card must be below POOR condition. Some of us on the board, would describe this card as "Below Fisher Grade." Even Ben would give this card a thumbs down.

Wish I had the image, but the fire damaged, ripped in half 'real' Wagner has to be the king.

My favorite of a few months back was Headless Rube Oldring, but the all-timer remains Wid Conroy, Employee Of The Month. "VG with stain" doesn't do it the injustice it deserves:

twinkle-eyes carrigan w. red star; a-scrap-of-a-wagner-is-better-than-no wagner; brown nose Conroy and headless Oldring. Hey, character, man!

What do I look under to find these gems?

Please note the fine pin-hole work the original owner was kind enough to do- right on Plank's FACE

"VG, except for some slight staining and surface wear"

And I couldnt leave my t227 Marquard out of this thread...

Wish I still had my Obak Gene Krapp card. Even Mark Macrae, who I bought the card from, said his name didn't do justice to the condition the card was in.

You have to be a slightly touched collector that borders on the super natural to see beauty in this card, .... but I do.
It's not much but it's mine.

Funny you said that, because I did mention that to the seller.

Marsans feels that the competition is fierce.
Can we count on your vote?

I would be inclined to vote Ben's T227 out, because of the distinguished nature of the set and complete recognizability and integrity of the player...I think the card is worth paying for--and isn't even funny (like ol' Brown-Nose Conroy). As far as I'm concerned, the rest can stay.

My personal favorite is the Carrigan (actually, it's probably the Wagner, but I don't remember it). There are very few E cards that I like in ANY shape (NOW what have a said!!!)

Hey now.....I bought the Oldring card.

I know it's not in the best condition but it's something different than what you normally see.

Or are we now VOTING for all-time favorite?

I'll take the Carrigan--before the original damage was done, the rendering of the subject made him look like an idiot already.

it's supposed to be a stamp, a T202 or a T205)--it looks phoney. Stock looks wrong.

I can't believe someone actually met the opening bid. I've never been too concerned about card condition, but even that card is not worth spending a $1 on. I don't care if it is Cocc, Ruth or some other great player. The card is barely recognizable. And as Julie pointed out, what is it? A t205, a Piedmont art stamp, a fake? The wear is also very suspicious. Never seen wear like on a especially one that apparently looks like it was removed from an album. If this card sells, I guess can expect to see other sandpapered repros to the market as found in the attic in a scrapbook.

For a card this bad, does it even matter that it's a fake?

It is with deep emotional depression and a heavy heart that the CJ Marsans and I, swing our vote to the invisible Nap '33 Goudey.

I know why some sellers prefer the Private ID, but now know why some bidders want to use the Private ID system.

As it stands now,it's a steal.

Let's see.
$1.00 for the card.
$5.00 for S&H, but best of all, it's insured.
The seller has his book published, and is hoping to make the best sellers list.
The post office is happy.
The Privateer is looking for bragging rights to the Nebulous Nap. .... Everybody's happy.

Are there anymore Privateers out there?

I think the contest is still on: the acid-washed "'33 Goudey Lajoie" got done in by its authenticity disclaimer, apparently. The listing is gone.
