Default Lots of fakes on Ebay - Be aware!

Please make sure you don't get caught up in any of these. They are pretty well done for Ebay fakes. There are numerous HOFers which should alert most people, but I see the Clemente already had a bid at $500 and they are many others.

The auction descriptions all note:
Up for Auction is a part of an amazing collection of Autographs that were purchased during the mid to late 1980's through the late Al Rosen aka "Mr. Mint"
This seems to be a thing now. Once a prominent hobby figure passes, the scammers use the person's name to pawn off fakes. The person can't defend themselves and the family probably has no idea this is happening. Vile and disgusting.

Well, that dude at least is covering all the bases...Cobb, Ruth, Hendrix, Joplin, Kennedy, Edison, Mathewson, and most are from "Mr. Mint's estate" and most seem to be on blank uncancelled penny postcards. Things just don't change, do they?

...oh oh, my favorite is the Joe Jackson with the typical sig complete with slow shakes like someone that didn't know how to write wrote it. Oh yeah, then there's Chicago White Sox written perfectly underneath. LOL

The person who penned that stuff is an "old friend" of the hobby.

Default Ebay seller Ralphizzle4444 Forged Babe Ruth Ty Cobb Christy Mathewson

Here are some of the listings of forged autographs from Ebay seller Ralphizzle4444.

Yes, an "old friend" of the hobby penned these.

Default Ebay seller Ralphizzle4444 Forged Walter Johnson

This is the kind of crap you see on Coach's Corner Auctions every month.

Gotta love the "Alan Rosen AKA Mr. Mint" bit.

I especially love when they take a sig like Eddie Collins and combine the styles and spacing of multiple eras. I guess I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Very depressing.

Default Joe Jackson

Where would we be without a "Joe Jackson."

On Coach's Corner we had, and still do, have the "Barry Halper" COA and now we have the "Alan Rosen AKA Mr. Mint" routine.

People are bidding on this, but that doesn't surprise me.

Delusional autograph collectors buy this crap!!!

My goodness!!!

But will these pass PSA, JSA or Beckett! 😁 (it’s all that eBay buyers care about these days!)

I know it’s easy to poke fun at these, but I think these are better than most of the coaches corner stuff. I know a number of these items would fool quite a few people who consider themselves knowledgeable. If some of these were offered to “experienced” card dealers who dabble in memorabilia, they would get bit. I just wanted to make sure it gets exposed so people can cancel their bids or snipes. Thanks for the additional comments.

These were penned by a forger who has been around a long time with lots of practice.

These are really poor examples of his work; he's created more convincing material. So sad to see this garbage generating bids.

Honestly, a John Dillinger 3X5? "Hey, Mr. Public Enemy #1, will you sign this for me? I know you're in a rush, being on the run and all, but can I get a full name signature?".

Why dance around, why not just link a story or person. The reason we post here is to prevent fraud in the hobby. If we don’t expose stories of fraud, then we are bound to have more people become victims.

If you are going to use a dead person's name. You should use someone who was famous for selling autographs.
Mr Mint was 99% cards.
I do not think that these are from Jonny Fang

I think these are pretty poor examples.
FWIW the Joe Jackson looks like it used the original and first Joe Jackson to be sold in the market from Herman Darvick in the late 1980s as it's template . Does anyone else remember that sale ?

Yeah, I remember. I believe, and I might be confusing the facts, that Josh Evans got that first Jackson (there were more later) and then traded it to Barry Halper.

Of course a Joe Jackson is a poor example to choose to forge, but some of them are very good. Everyone is commenting like others have the expertise that they do. Some of the Babe Ruth’s and a number of other ones would fool over 90% of the collecting community. When I make a comment to the board it’s not for the 10 to 20 people on here who are advanced autograph collectors, it’s to the thousand other people that stroll by for advice.

That's correct. Leland's / Josh Evans took out a full page ad in SCD to announce /advertise the puchase .

Exactly.

The forgery industry is not targeting collectors like us; they direct their efforts at the gullible; the delusional autograph collector and the impulse buyer.

I may have been interested if Joe had written "I didn't throw the series"

This variation with just the team is too common

That's because they're from recent exclusive private signings at CC on vintage baseballs kept exclusively for these signings .
