Default Lelands-Anyone win!

I was wondering if anyone won anything from last nights auction. I was able to pick up the 1926 50th anniversary old judge posters. The best part was that i was the orginal owner then consigned them to Mastro's acouple years where they went for 4 times the final bid, plus who ever bought them got them framed.

I was lucky enough to win the lot of 4 Max Carey items including his 1908 Concordia College Team Cabinet Photo.

Wow, Jay! Really great pick-up. Great price, too. I'd have given you more of a challenge on it if I wasn't so preoccupied with stuff going on in my life right now. Congrats!

I couldn't compete, and lost on every level.

Great work Josh and Mike!

Jay - nice pickup.

I've had the photo below (same image) for a while. Based on the written ID's, which are in kind of in a mish-mash order, and some additional research, these guys are:

Moses Fleet Walker, Ed Dundon, Mox McQuery, Bones Ely, Bill Higgins

Ollie Beard, Murphy, Rasty Wright, Charles Hackett, Joe Battin, ?

Robert Higgins, Al Schellhase

For the unknown guy at the right end of the middle row, the handwriting appears to say "Marc". I haven't been able to correlate that to anyone and I don't know if I'm reading it correctly.

I can't make out the writing on your scan very well. Is there anything on your photo that helps? Thanks.

Mark--Murphy is Con B. Murphy, a pitcher, and the fellow at the far right in the middle row is Charles "Lefty" Marr who hit .342 and stole 83 bases that season. In 1889, Marr returned to the majors with Columbus in the AA and was featured in the Old Judge set. A good reference book is "The International League Year-by-Year Statistics, 1884-1953" by Marshall D. Wright.

Glad I asked - thanks Jay.

It was easy to find confirming images of Murphy - p275 of your book, and Marr on page 308. Also good tip on the IL book which I have just ordered.

Mark--The Marr is in the Old Judge book, the Murphy is not (different Murphy). Con did play major league baseball in 1890, but is not in the Old Judge set.
I think you'll enjoy that book. It is a great reference tool.

Default lelands pickup

Nothing to get real excited about, but I thought it was a very cool shot of Foxx and you can't beat the price.

Mark--Sorry, I thought you were referring to the bio section; I didn't check the page number. What a great team that 1887 Oshkosh club was.

I noticed the Foxx. One of the nicest street clothes shot of him. There was a similar Gehrig.

I got outbid on the Gehrig, very cool photo. I liked that Ruth lot quite a bit, but couldn't seem to pull the trigger on it.

I had a Herb Pennock form the same series-- same stamping, date, street clothes sitting on a park bench. In person, it was Grade A. The series looks fitting for Vogue.

You get an invoice in the regular (snail) mail. I don't know if you get an emailed one. I believe if you log in you can check your bidding status, including winnings.

The Foxx and Gehrig are from a series done by Underwood and Underwood of players in street clothes. Usually when found they are 8 x 10'' and have a label in the lower corner for Underwood and Underwood of NY.

Wasn't there a signed version of the Pennock in a past H&S auction? It sold for a pittance--I wish I had remembered to bid on it! These are really nice images that have aged perfectly.
