Default Beware E93 Cobb on eBay

The first Cobb was sold in Heritage ten days ago for $4560; obvious white print marks all over the orange field, Cobb's glove, sweater, etc. Second pic is the same card in a current eBay auction, selling for $7999 with all the white print marks photoshopped out. Here's the link to the eBay auction: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1910-E93-Ty...19.m1438.l2649

Agreed but I can't blame that on the eBay seller as he bought it in the holder from Heritage. The balls to increase the price in ten days by 75% while also photoshopping all the print defects out is pretty impressive. At some point a fraudster like this is going to sell to the wrong guy.

I've seen a ton of high grade E93s that looked trimmed to me. But I am sort of biased. I think all E cards that are too short and have way too neat corners are trimmed.

I can speak from the Cobb because it's mine. I thought the white spots were on the card as well, but when I got it in hand they are on the case. A simple cleaning of the case took them right off. Nothing shady going on here folks.

From Heritage: "The soiled surfaces announce the age of this over century old relic." I guess they just meant the case?

I guess an auction house has never been wrong before. I can send a texted picture to anyone who cares. It's amusing how everyone bashes AH's on here, but when they don't clean a case before taking scans something shady has to be going on.

Heritage let a card of this grade and caliber go to auction with shmutz on the case, a simple cleaning of which could have meant tons of extra $$?? Seems odd. Maybe post a phone shot of the card? Not saying you have done anything, but it does seem odd. Just sayin - as a guy who watched this card closely in the Heritage auction.

And btw Pete, you and I have never done a deal, but you list real nice cards and I am pulling for an AH mess up

Looking at the high res Heritage scan, there is a lot of dust on the holder. At the same time, the white marks in the center of the card above Cobb don't look to me like they are on the holder?

Here are 3 scans I just took. As you can see from the shadows that the white markings are on the case.

I'm in the middle of a trial and my brain is fried so I'm sure I'm missing something. I thought you cleaned the case and that's why your eBay image doesn't have the white marks on the case?

I'll be 100% honest, I don't know how to photo shop stuff. I know how to put the card on the scanner and hit "scan".

That's actually more than I know how to do. I do know how to buy a scanner, however. That's where my expertise ends.

Like I stated previously I was as surprised as anyone when I got the card and noticed it was the case and not the card. I would send it to PSA to get reholdered, but I'd want it back before Christmas.

I don’t post in threads like this typically, but I’ve dealt with Pete and had a great transaction that went smoothly without incident. I love the card I got and believe him to be a stand up guy.

Those white spots seem to come and go. They're back on your camera pics, but look like they're back on the holder.

Well deserved, imo, for trying to continue a conspiracy theory and promoting a lynch mob mentality, now proven wrong, while questioning advertising decisions.
Anyone can question and say what they want to, it's all good. Please put your full name next to your posts per the rules. thanks

When asked Heritage in the past how they take their pictures they confirmed that they use a camera, not a scanner. It looks like in a scanner they don't show up well (if you look close at his glove you can notice it though), but on a camera (as I just sent scans) it shows a shadow.

As an aside, The value on this card has plummeted in the last 10 years. Why?

Thanks Patrick. In 10 years there is a chance someone scratched it. I know it sounds unbelievable, but it could've happened.

You would think an AH would clean up the holder on an expensive card.

Check PSA verification. It shows the last three auction house sales with links to the pics. You can see that the holder has been dinged over the years.
