Default What Can You Tell Me About This Hillerich & Bradsby Bat?

It's not mine (it's my boss', sitting in his office) but we're curious about its value, scarcity, etc. I've never seen the multiple name inscriptions (only ever seen single name bats - Mantle, etc.), let alone the number of massive HoFers. The names wrap around and vary from Sisler to Cobb to Ruth to Gehrig, etc. The stamp dates it to the '30s & '40s, but any other information would be appreciated.

H&B made many commemorative bats over the years so this one is hard to say exactly what this was for. Most of these types sells between $200 and $500 depending on condition.

This one Id says is $250 tops

Do you know what this would commemorate?

Here is the list of names on the bat...

Connie Mack, Babe Ruth, Joe McCarthy, Ed Collins (?), Ted Williams, Charles Ruffing, Lou Gehrig, Hank Greenberg, George Case, Bill Dickey, Joe Cronin, Charles Keller, Rudolph York, Joe DiMaggio, Lou Boudreau, Joe Gordon, Mickey Cochrane, George Sisler, Ty Cobb, Jimmie Foxx.

Random. As. Hell.

I'm guessing some kind of All Star game. Every player listed is predominantly an American League player / manager.

That's a great guess, but I don't think the overlap is there.

A large percentage of the active players were on the 1939 All Star game held at Yankee Stadium.

A lot, yes, but not Boudreau, Collins, Keller, York... It's a random, random list right now until we figure this out. Haha.

My guess was that the bat was made for a wartime (July 7, 1942) bond game and these players were there.

It sounds like they did more than one of these, which could be a possibility. This one couldn't have been it because Lou Gehrig is on the bat, yet died in '41. But I like where your head's at!
