Default E93

Hello all - I am a 30+ year collector but new to this site. I was wondering if anyone may have perspective on E93's. I have been working toward the set and I am over half of the way there. I have some graded and some ungraded cards. I keep looking at these cards and I swear I have three different measurements among my group. One is likely trimmed but I have a little hesitation because it doesn't have the obvious signs of trimming. It is just skinny. All of the cards have the same measurements top to bottom. It is the left to right measurements that are different. There is no doubt that when I compare two of my SGC graded cards one is fatter than the other. Both have numeric grades. Neither is an "A". I don't recall issues like this on T-206. Does anyone have any perspective on this? Is it a case that perhaps multiple factories produced these cards and the factory cuts were a bit different? Any feedback would be welcomed.

Thanks!

Welcome to the board.

Post some pics of what you are concerned with and hit up the archives to find threads on E93's.

I just completed and registered an E93 set. Looking for a Christy upgrade by the way and if you're the one that bid against me on the ebay one last weekend I kind of hate you. Just kidding. I purchased a raw Mordecai Brown and when it arrived it looked very skinny to me. I compared it to others and that was correct. I assumed it would get an A but it graded out just fine. So I think some variation in sizing exists. That's about all I can add. Good luck with the set. It is a prettttttty one.

Agreed, they can vary slightly in width - and appearance!

Good luck with your set

yup, cards definitely can vary slightly in card dimensions. Remember cards at the turn of the century weren't exactly being printed to fine tuned specifications.

Thanks all - this is really great insight. Carter08.. I was bidding against you for that Matty last weekend but just like you I was not the person who ended up getting it!

E93 is an awesome set just loaded with HOF's...

I can’t believe how high that went! It was a very pretty 4 but may have been a colorized photo. I thought it would go for 4500.

Yup, before you posted it I sent you an email asking you to trade for mine and cash. Think about it!!! The 4 went for 6700. I was willing to go to a crazy place for it but even my limit was 6600.

Anyone know if they make binder sheets 4 cards wide? Most caramels are too wide for the tobacco pages, but look tiny in the normal sheets.

Normal sheets = 3 cards wide
Caramel sheets = 4 cards wide?
Tobacco sheets = 5 cards wide

I have always liked E93's. If I were a set collector, they would be on my shortlist of sets to put together.

Awesome Matty Pete. That Wagner looks great too. Nice big borders.

I just peaked at the pop reports and they are pretty tough overall. Cobb has only 177 total graded between PSA/SGC. I would have guessed higher. Love the blazing orange on the Cobby.

If Jim B. was still with us, he'd have so much to say about this set; it was his signature set. Miss Jim.

I wanted to share my E93 set because it took a fair amount of time and coin to finish. I just love the colors.

Bravo James!

Would be really cool to see the set laid out and organized by color, like an ombre or gradient effect.

Good point - going to work on that! I have almost zero artistic eye but when I display them I’m going to spend some time working on it.

Beautiful James...I really miss my young and wags...but I'm glad they're in your set!

I considered getting the last 10 to complete the set...but my plan was to sell most and keep the best...so I stuck to it...and Im typically not a set collector anyways!

It is a gorgeous set. A nice way to knock Plank and Wags off your HOF checklist if you want something similar stylistically to T206 without dropping six (or close to six) figures. Waddell is my favorite pose. The only one I have left is this one. JimB was a good dude. Miss him.

Great cards, guys. I used to own a sheet of them. And, as mentioned, the sizes on the regular cards do vary some...
