Default Does this card exist: 89-90 Topps Randy Cunneyworth Variation

Been looking for it for years and have never even seen the variation. The common issue shows the Winnipeg Jets logo on front. The variation has the Pittsburgh Penguins logo on the front (supposedly).

Does any one own or ever seen the variation?

I believe it exists as a proof.

The Jets version is the worst airbrush job, ever.

That would explain my difficulty in finding one. Beckett has always had it listed as 63A and 63B and they don't typically do that with proofs, I thought.

That is a bad airbrush job....even by Topps bad airbrushing standards!

The card does exist. Not sure it is a proof or whatever but I guess that would make sense. I saw one at a card show back when the cards were first issued and that was the only time I ever saw one.

1989-90 Topps #63.1 - Randy Cunneyworth (Error: Pittsburgh Penguins on Front)
Courtesy of COMC.com

Looks like one sold for $23 on COMC back in January of 2012.

Outstanding work, John.

Definitive proof that it exists.

I went digging because someone keeps mentioning it on the PSA boards in the thread about the guy trying to put together the entire 1989 Topps Hockey set in PSA 10 from self-submitted cards. He has busted cases of 89 Hockey and hasn't found one yet.

This is the first that I have seen this error.

I will dig in my 30,000 1989 cards and see if I can find this error.

I was always under the assumption that I should be looking for Cunneyworth in a Penguins jersey.
