We got about 85% or so, where I'm located, through a hazy cloud cover.

Totally cloudy here too. It got slightly darker and chillier out but that's about it, unfortunately.

I wanted to see it, but I thought it would be too dark to see. So, a couple minutes before it was set to happen I turned on my NVG's and looked up to watch. Now I'm blind.

I couldn't see it, as it was/is completely overcast.

And I live just outside San Antonio TX, in the path of totality

The skies here in Rhode Island stayed clear, and despite not being on "the path" we still got to about 90% totality.

So yeah, I was the middle-aged guy sitting on a big rock in my front yard at 3:30 PM looking up at the sky wearing goofy glasses.

It was about 89% here in Northern Virginia. It was mainly puffy clouds, with a lot of blue. A lot of the clouds were thin enough and diffused enough light so you could look for a few seconds at a time and get a good view. I did miss the lunar eclipse a few weeks ago as I forgot about it.

Went up to Northern Maine and saw the totality. Most amazing sight. People were beyond blown away.

Rochester was right down the middle of the path of totality but had complete cloud coverage. Got really dark and cold though. That is was cloudy in Rochester is not surprising. Frustrating that it was beautiful out the day before, the morning of, and the night after the eclipse. Literally just the two hour window where clouds would be a problem it was cloudy. Sigh.

Did not watch for it and it was overcast here also. But at 3:23pm it got dark and cooler for about a minute.

Cleveland here. Line of totality was worth the hype! The moment it went from 99% to 100% coverage was AMAZING. Birds stopped chirping, temp dropped a few degrees - it was silent for a minute. Then some neighbors set off some fireworks Three minutes of darkness in all. Unforgettable.
Most amazing thing of all was that Cleveland got to see it. We've only had one or two 'sunny' days in the last three weeks! Cloudy, rainy, fog. Very lucky!

Nice video. That's about what it looked like through the clouds here in CT.

Not quite totality here, but we live in the woods by a river, and we noticed the frogs and the night-time insects started to make a racket while the sun was getting covered...and then went back into hibernation after it was exposed again. Even with cloud cover, they were fooled into coming out, if only for a few minutes or so.

We changed our plans to fly to Texas, and at the last minute drove to Canada. And then we weren't happy, so we drove some more. Ended up 19hrs from home. Totally worth it.

I bought some of the glasses, went outside and fell twice - couldn't see a damn thing.

Wife and I went to Niagara Falls to watch. Overcast but we got glimpses of a lot of steps along the way including totality. It was kind of exciting with a huge cheer going up every time it poked out from behind the clouds.
