Default Yet ANOTHER Top 10...for YOUR collection

This may be here somewhere. I'm new to the forums and I'm just getting to know folks.
Top 10 threads can be fun. Thing is, if we all had unlimited resources, many of our collections would look the same. Everyone would like the good fortune to complain about paying 600.00 to ship a card or the need to have an armored truck deliver it. Since that scenario is relevant to only an immeasurable amount of collectors, a thread about a T206 Wagner or Boston Garter Joe Jackson is theoretical in nature. Most Top 10 lists are driven by scarcity &/or real--or even perceived value. No doubt, the rookie cards of most players are their most valuable and, thus, desirable. For me, I MUCH prefer their second year issue. After a big rookie year, the anticipation of that player's card became huge when I was a kid. I like the first 5 or 6 cards of players I enjoyed. The 1977 Bill Madlock & Joe Morgan cards were hot on my block. Seeing cards with Mariners or Bluejays on them was downright miraculous! I could trade Joe Lis straight up for Johnny Bench for most of that summer!
To that end, a card of a fat, aged, declining Mickey Mantle is undesirable to me at any price...but that's just me.

I really want to see, read, YOUR top 10. If that's the 10 most expensive, elusive cards--great! If that's a '78 Keith Hernandez--even better!

The attraction for me in a forum like this is to get to know what other's collect for the pure joy of it. I like to learn about who likes what and even "why". I know a guy that collects Craig Biggio cards (I do, too--that's how we met) and he has no interest in Biggio's cards as a catcher--NONE. I think that's fascinating how he views his collection.

So, please, throw a list of YOUR personal collection's Top 10. The last cards you'd hold on to if you had to liquidate it all tomorrow.

I love that Cobb image as well! That Walter Johnson is one of the most attractive issues of him.

Picking 10 cards was fairly hard. Top 20 would have been way easier.

1 & 2 are a 1990 Score wrong back pair with Wade Boggs and Roger Clemens. It is a only known error pair of my all time favorite 2 players. To keep for the rest of my life I wouldn't trade these to cards for any 2 cards n the hobby.

3 1952 Topps Eddie Mathews rookie with great eye appeal for the grade.

4 1975 Topps Robinson/Clemente A insanely rare real missing yellow error card.

5 1992 Topps Jim Beckett This is serial #007. It is the 7th card Beckett ever graded. This is from their test period before they ever graded a single card for the public.

6 Reprint of a very rare Bill Ripken parody card from the Simpsons. It is the P4 Diamond version only handed out at a special event. This one a awesome fellow member got signed for me by Bill Ripken.

7 1939 Ted Williams Play Ball I bought this off the auction section of the BST area.

8 2000 Fleer Club 3000 Wade Boggs a only known error version that has a wrong back and has the bat and Jersey inserts marked but not there. Back in the day when I emailed Fleer about it. They offered to replace it with the normal version.

9 1958 Warren Spahn with a cool rainbow affect. Card is altered.

10 1989 Fleer Bill Ripken counterfeit. I put the card in the slab and put the flip I got back with the card when I submitted it to SGC.

Default Hmmmm

1 - 1955 Clemente rookie - raw in original plastic screw down (my mom bought it for me when I was 13 and thus began a lifetime interest in collectible baseball cards.
2 - 1968 Clemente Topps Disc - a recently picked up "whale" - only one graded
3 - 1958 Kahn's Clemente - Super toughie (PSA 5)
4 - 1967 Clemente Giant Stand up - another super toughie
5 - 1967 Venezuelan Clemente - another super toughie
(starting to see the theme here?)
6 - 1963 Clemente Bazooka complete box
7 - 1959 Mantle Bazooka complete box
8 - 1966 Kahn's complete uncut panel set (or just the Clemente if limited to 1)
9 - 1954 Clemente learners permit
10- a 1966? 4x6 color snapshot of Clemente that has just an incredible ethereal look to it.

4)1911 T3 Cobb
5)1912 T227 Cobb
6)1921 Schapira Ruth Homerun - highest graded
7)1929 Universal Toy Ruth
8)1929 Universal Toy Gehrig

Most of them have not been immortalized on cards, so for the sake of this thread, Sleazeballs in the Hobby lists not welcome.

T3 Cobbs in any grade are always show-stoppers.
I have to admit, the Thorpe made me laugh. The shape was "carefully" cut.

Howard,
Any chance you can share the Clemente snapshot?

Default Narrowed it down to these 10 Pre-1957

Centering and surfaces are--and always have been, my main attractions. Typical corner wear has never bothered me too much. For me, it's the player, the image of the player and how the production came together. The '56 Clemente I picked up pretty recently (2017) from my friends at Card Country.
In person, the card truly is closer to MINT 9 than a straight 8. It's the first time I paid a large premium for a card that a dealer really wasn't in a rush to sell, Lol. I'll be forever grateful and he made some $. Everybody wins. Choosing 10 cards in actually pretty hard!
