Ive been collecting for a while, and honestly just stumbled on the site! ive been surfing as a guest for about a month, and it looks like a lot of really knowledgeable and helpful collectors, so i decided to join.

I really only got into pre-war about a year ago (with the exception of my '39 play balls, ive been working on those a long time), but i wanted to share some of my favorite items in my current collection. 1921 hornsby.jpg

1933 gehrig.jpg

1939 play balls.jpg

t206 HOF.jpg

joes collection 022.jpg

sorry to have started a new thread, but my collection of pre war is a little all over the place and i couldnt find one individual thread that they'd all fit in.

Welcome!

You will be glad you joined - there is a lot of knowledge that can be gained from these boards.

One warning! The BST board can become quite addicting...

Thanks Rawn, ET al...

Any advice what direction to head in? T206? 33 goudey? Maybe the common 39s?

I figure it'll take a long time to find the remaining '39 HOFs...so I need something in the meantime

I've finally embraced my schizophrenia. I buy pre-war that appeals to me! I guess that makes me a type collector.

Seriously, the positive is that you can always be expanding without having to shell out the big bucks for the high end players. With type collecting, you can stick to commons and be happy!

Dave,

You are sooo Right! I just wish that it didn't take me a few years to figure this out

For now just the HoF, let me know what you're thinking price wise/trade etc etc...

Once I finish the HoF I might come back to you for others.

Oh shoot, it's a 1940 Play Ball, sorry. I am almost 100% sure that a signed 39 Play Ball signed does not exist, I've looked for years, and I'm sure you have as well, maybe you've seen one. I don't believe if there is a signed Goudey either, may have the earliest signed card, that I've seen.

Yeah, I haven't seen the Vaughn or the Manush in existence anywhere, the rest I've seen but pricing was silly, the only one of the remaining that warrants big $ is the Teddy rookie.

I won't be crushed if I never find the army or heinie... I just thank god Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, Joe Jackson, and Honus weren't in this set

Yeah if you have all but two, I think that's def a win because they may be non-existant.

Yeah, if you were going for the 1940, have fun paying for that 10k wags lol. I've seen a few Foxx, one is up for $1,000 right now. And I've seen a decent amount of Ruth Goudey's signed that were over 10k, but I can't imagine a play ball being half that.

I don't think I could ever part with this 40 PB Vaughan. It's just too tough. Do you have any dupes on the PB's? Like DiMaggio, Ted, rookies mainly...

I don't... I actually had a duplicate signed DiMaggio, but I used it to acquire the Ott
