Default Interesting Cobb pic

Watching Ken Burns baseball and noticed this picture of Cobb wearing a Cleveland uniform during a benefit game for a deceased Addie Joss. Any ideas why he might be wearing this instead of his Detroit uniform, which interestingly Crawford is seen wearing in the same panoramic?

Edit: I'm guessing he just needed a uniform as the game was played in Cleveland. Still an interesting picture.

Cobb, as I recall, was one of two players who wore the Cleveland uniform that day in honor of Joss. I can't recall the other player.

Here's another shot of Cobb in the Cleveland uniform.
I bought this similar photo (the one pictured is from eBay) at the Philly show 15 years ago from Joe Wood's son, Robert.
He was a fixture at the show selling photo prints of his dad and similar stars of the era.
Joe Wood is in the top row, 3rd from left.

Agree with Jay - something about the uniform being lost or stolen, or he just forgot it, so he was given a Cleveland one to use for the game.

The story I had heard a while ago was that he forgot to pack it. Whatever the case, makes for a cool photo!

I toured Cleveland stadium two years ago and the tour guide said Cobb's uniform was stolen on the train ride down from Detroit.

Cobb had to borrow a Cleveland uniform for the game.

It was a very good tour (I would recommend it) for $7.50 a person. Since baseball season was in progress we couldn't go into the locker rooms, but we got to visit every other part of the stadium.
