Default Do PSA and SGC share notes on cards?

Hi. I saw this SGC A Shoeless Joe 1915 Cracker Jack card in the Heritage auction (I'm not the consignor and do not know who the consignor is) and it got me thinking...

The card is graded SGC A with impressive eye appeal. The description notes:

"Your first impression is that you are looking at a card at the near-mint level. What we have is a card that has experience professional restoration. It has ben cleaned, trimmed and a small segment of the right edge appears to have paper enhanced and possibly replaced."

Would anything stop the winner from cracking the case and submitting it to PSA or another grader in hopes that one of them will give it a numerical rating commensurate with its NM eye-appeal? Do the grading companies share reports/scans of cards that are not given numerical grades because they were restored/altered? Or are the grading companies all sophisticated enough to catch a restoration project on a card?

Would love to hear some views on this. Thanks.

i'd surmise there is zero communication between SGC and PSA...additionally it'd be quite sad if a major restoration got past any of the major TPG'ers...but crazier things have happened!

I think PSA is scanning high end cards they grade, so if you resubmit a cracked PSA card to PSA, they have a chance of viewing the original grade.

Otherwise, it is a no for sharing. And some of these grading companies are not tech savvy.

That would only be possible with some type of AI involved. I think we established before that none of the TPG's posses this knowledge in a working form. When they do you can bet they will do like SGC in 2016 and launch at National in front of the whole hobby. Maybe this time it will actually work.

Remember the rumors that Nat Turner's group also bought SGC? That was going around a couple months after the PSA deal was finalized.

Yes I heard he wasn’t going to equally cross SGC cards over to PSA, so SGC said No Go Hommie.
