Default Professional Model vs Store Model

Posted By: Dan B

Recently on this forum Troy Kinunen of SCD said that half-inch model bats were not made for the public, but in this recent auction this bat was listed as a store model bat.

I avoided asking this question until the auction was over so as not to out an auction, but now I'm confused.

Dan

I have seen and owned several 1/2" and 1'4" bats and none of mine are gamers. I think it depends on how you measure and the manufacturing process. Many bats have rounded ends. Do you measure to the rounded corner or the the furthest point? Also, people selling want their bat to be as long as possible to add value. Therefore, a 33" bat considered by most collectors to be on the short side, might be more saleable a bit closer to 34". And of course, back in the day, store model bat manufacturers might not have been very tight on specs. for bats.

Well im sitting here in my office surrounded by fifty or so beauties. (No I'm not Hugh Heff..just 50 bats). So I took out may tape measure and did somne measuring. I've got a few 1/2" 1/4" and some in between. They are not gamers...unless I'm sitting next to some gems I wasn't aware of, or maybe I need a new tape measure.
