Default Anyone collect T204 Ramly Set?

Posted By: Richard

Greetings everyone. I was wondering if anyone is collecting the T204 Ramly Set? I am interested to know what cards are the toughest to acquire. I currently have 0 in my collection and was considering picking one or 2 up.
Thanks

Hi Richard,

I only have one Ramly, a Bresnahan. I'm not really into portrait cards, but I do like the looks of the T204's.

You'll want to check out the Brockelman & Luckey auction, as they have several T204's. (Funding for this reply has been provided by B&L Auctions, LLC.)

edit: Talk about coincidence, I posted this then went to the BST and saw that Toby had just listed a T204 Bresnahan! Maybe if I mention Wagner in this post and then go to the BST ...

Scott & Peter both have greater experience with this set than I do - but for me the five most difficult cards to find nice (PSA 4 or better) in order of difficulty were:
Burkett
Johnson
Plank
Keeler
Thomas
Not sure why Thomas was so elusive but it was the last one I picked up to finish my set and it took a LONG time. Thanks to Peter on that one & I still owe him a beer or two for facilitating a somewhat complex three way trade.
The set is definitely do-able but patience is required and good luck!

I have 6 complete T204 Reilly sets. He's the hardest player to find in the T204 Reilly set. Other than that I don't know much about the t204 set....no Pirates in it for some reason, doesnt sit well with this Pirates fan. As soon as my time machine works I'm going to write a letter to Mr. Ramly about it

So Bob,youre one of the ones keeping me from an even 7 sets? You cant see it right now but I'm shaking my fist at you.

For some actual help on the set there is a very interesting thread in the archives section and www.t207.com which is a site by a board member(who's name I cant remember right now,ask Bill Cornell,he should know) has a section on t204s with scans of each card and some pretty good info.

There might not be Pirates in the set but there are a "boatload" of Red Sox in the set. That is the team subset I am working on. For me, these two have been difficult for me to locate:

Frank Arrelanes
Doc Gessler

Good luck. I love the set, issued just before the on-slaught of the Monster and other mainstream sets in the golden era so there is a fair amount of "rookies" in the set.

Wow! What interesting info on this great looking scarce set. The cards are very sharp. I wasn't considering pursuing the issue just want to pick up 1 or two for type set. They are pricey though.
Thanks

i have one that I absolutely love ---Knight---from the Lionel Carter Collection via the Leon Luckey Collection!

i must say that the Ramly's are calling me a bit.
But so are the T3's.
And so are the 206 packs.
So i'd best look at the stock market again.

best,

barry

This set is the undisputed king of Art Nouveau cards. Actually, I suppose it's the only "Art Nouveau" set out there. Some likely consider the curlicued, gold frames to be unsightly and gaudy; I've always kinda liked what a bold impression they leave on the retinas!
