Default The Sport Hobbyist- April 1964, Nagy....

It seems the business operations side of the hobby has always been something hobbyists have dealt with.....I was rooting around an un-searched (for me) stack of stuff and found this copy of an old publication. I love how Nagy says he and the other fellow "looked over thousands (of cards) and I never had a better time." I thought I would share, enjoy-

Default Nagy

I love seeing these pieces of the ancient times.
Seeing nagy refer to kenworthy as one of the old time collectors brought a smile to my face.
great stuff.
all the best,
barry

The ad rates were a little steep.

Default Enjoying Nagy

Thanks for sharing Frank Nagy's letter, Leon. It brought back a lot of great hobby memories. I met Frank in 1972 when I was a senior in high school at the old Troy (MI) Show. He gave me baseball matchbook covers and sold me a 1959 Fleer Ted Williams set in near mint condition (minus #68) for $5, the going rate at the time. Later, his auctions were great places for me to pick up vintage material. And he always threw in extra. Keep those old hobby articles coming!

I like the part were he talks about another collector stopping by on vacation with thousands of cards. That would be a fun time looking through those cards and working trades. One part I miss from the hobby as a child is the person to person interaction and trading cards. I go to shows but never attempt to trade at them.
