Default Newby questions...are my pins repros or not??

First off, hi there. I have read the rules and don't think I am breaking any of them...please forgive me if I am.

My name is Renee & I am trying to figure all of this stuff out. In the mid 80's, my dad started collecting old cards & memorabilia and took me with him. I think I was the only 10 year old girl at the shows! Anyhow, we lost most of our collection in one of those crazy California wildfires two years ago. We are now going through and selling a lot of what survived (we count each dollar as a yard of concrete for the foundation of the new house to be built) and don't know enough about the pins.

In '86 or so, a friend of my dad's gave him a tin full of pins when he wasn't able to pay back a loan. We never really looked through it but were assured everything was authentic. Now that I am trying to sell it on ebay, I need to know for sure as I don't want to cheat anyone. So, could anyone here tell me if these are real or not? Is there an easy way for me to figure it out on my own? I have searched the forums as well as googled it and I am still lost!

San Jose Red Sox Pins (I have quite a few) 1.25"

Milwaukee Braves Pin 1.75"

Houston Colts Pin 1.75"

Beat the Bucs Pin 1.25"

I would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance!
Renee

Back of Houston Colts Pin

I will take a pic of the back of the Red Sox pin in a moment and put upload it.

Thanks for your quick response!

I'll guess that "Beat the Buc's" pin is the best of the bunch! I'll also bet you have a couple in the tin that are fairly scarce.

Yes, I think some are pretty scarce. I have no idea what they are. As far as the Beat the Bucs pins go, they do seem to be some of the better ones. I have 78 of those alone and have no idea what to do with all of them. At this point, I am selling them one at a time on Ebay but just guessing on prices to try to get rid of them. How can you tell if they are real or not? One guy is making me really nervous asking if I can "guarantee" that they are real. I still haven't answered him because I don't know what to say. Again, I am really new to all of this. I can easily play the "dumb girl" card right now.heheh

Thank you all very much for your quick help. You have made this experience very nice!

Renee--

If your auctions have nice closeup pics of both F & B like you've posted here your bidder guy should be able to tell they are real or he's not much of a pin collector!

Tell him to inspect the pics very closely & bid accordingly!

Hi Renee,
Your pins arenot repros they are all real. They are listed in some of the pin books.
The knot hole San Jose 10-20 dollars
The braves pin (has some foxing) 20-30
The colts Crossed Bats 10-25
The pirates pin (the best of the group) around 35 might be a litte more or less depending who wants it at the time.
Hope that helps you. Al

you can also show him this thread for what it is worth..... but just seeing the backs, anyone that collects pins will know. Once you list them, make sure you post up your ebay homepage so we can all take a looksee and maybe bid.

well, I wouldn't think the "Beat the Bucs" pinback will be worth $35 anymore since she said she has 78 of them and plans to sell them all on ebay.

Dan I didnt see that until I read down a little more. Renee if you do have that many the price will come down as collectors fill in with that pin. You might just want to put a buy it now price on the pin in a good range and sell them that way. The san jose pins willnot be that desireable after 5-10 sell. Just my opinion. You never know what happens in the crazy world of auctions!
