Has anyone ever seen this Pirate Tin before? It's pretty cool looking although a tad rusty. I wonder if packs came in it that contained cards, or more importantly, baseball cards? regards all

Pretty cool. What is the deal with these cards anyway? I know they were distributed overseas, but are they really that tough to find? Have any come up for sale recently?

... that the tin has some Dutch words on it. I really have to look around better over here!

There are currently 2 eBay auctions ongoing that feature these cards. No baseball though.

Looks like it might be a counter display.

I found the combination of Latin and Germanic derivative words very interesting.

What does NEEMT ER EEN MEE mean?

Thank you.

Literally it means: TAKES THERE A WITH, which probably is an expression like "take it with you", or "take one with you". It is indeed Dutch.

That is a holder for catalogs of Pirate Cigarette stuff. Gratis, meaning free and the Dutch words, NEEMT ER EEN MEE, meaning take one, together provide the information that it probably sat on a counter and was filled with small pamphlets or papers that showed what was offered by the company.

I knew that Mike, or someone would step up to the plate.

I had a feeling that the counter display held something other than cigarette packs.
The words catalogue and free, hinted at something else.
Thanks again.

Ted, you may now post anything you wish about cards.
