Default 1962 Post Cereal TV commercial with Roger Maris!

I'm just so excited! Just got off YOUTUBE. I watched a Post Cereal commercial featuring their new baseball cards for 1962 with Roger Maris. I had never seen this one before, or at least if I did see it in '62, it was long forgotten. Someone just loaded this up on YOUTUBE a month ago, and I chanced to see the entry. What a marvelous thrill. I loved every second of it!

For the interested, get on YOUTUBE and type exactly:

1962 Post Cereals Baseball Trading Cards Roger Maris

Takes me right back to the spring of '62. What a joyous nostalgic feast.

Hope some of you take the time to treat yourselves to this one. --Brian Powell

Tom--

I've enjoyed the two Post commercials with Mickey Mantle and the brief one with Roger Maris for years. This new, longer Maris commercial has just been on Youtube for a month, and as I said, I'm glad I chanced to check for new Post ads. However, I hadn't heard of the Drysdale commercial, so will be anxious to see that. Thanks for thoughtfully informing me of that one. Cheers. ---Brian Powell

Tom Reed--

I tried without success on Youtube to find a Post Cereal baseball card commercial with Don Drysdale. Would you please give me the key in words to type to find this? I'd sure appreciate it, podnah.

I did take the time to watch and carefully listen to Don's Baseball Hall of Fame induction day speech. Very moving from a classy guy. RIP.

Anyway, please help me find that Don Drysdale commercial. Thanks. --Brian

I noticed how wonderfully the cards are cut, until you look for them on the open market.. Then reality sets in!

Tom---
I surely understand the weekend shopping. Hope all went well.

A thousand thanks, my friend, for taking the time and serious expertise, at loading up the Don Drysdale 1963 Post Alpha Bits Cereal baseball card commercial. I'm on a nostalgic high. That was beautiful. Thanks again, bro.

If you look closely, a certain player by the name of Mickey Mantle is featured on almost every box shown. False advertising. You'd think Mick was on nearly every box. Nothing could be further from the truth. That's one of the very interesting facets I cover in chapter 15 of my forthcoming book, NEVER CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN. The chapter concerns the 1963 Post Cereal cards of Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle. I'll give you a teenzie-weenzie morsel of interest---the great Lionel Carter did not have the '63 Post Roger Maris in his massive collection.

Cheers. Brian Powell

PS-----Thanks Todd, for loading up the individual shot of Big D from his commercial. You guys are amazing at tech. Good thing I had superb help on my book; otherwise, I might only be at the end of chapter six.

Shane, thanks for uploading the 1961 commercial. I've seen that one before, but never ever tire of it. It so captures the innocence of those days. Hmm, Dick Groat for Eddie Matthews.

Did you notice for the commercial Post gave the Dick Groat a nice border all around, yet in 1961 all the cards had at least one shared border---or in reality no border whatsoever. The only exception I can think of is with individual serving boxes, whose backside treated the youngster to one card. Whether or not Post offered the individual boxes in 1961 is unknown to me. Perhaps our resident Post Cereal expert, Dan Mabey, will come to our rescue on this arcane question. I'm rather certain Post did not issue their entire 200-card set on just those little boxes. The main appeal was their fleet of standard boxes offering 5-7 "free" prizes.

Be that as it may, the commercial is perfect, period.

Love those Post Cereal cards!!!!!!!!!
