Default Caramel or Carmel....which is it?

Riveting topic.....how do you pronounce it?

Heard it both ways. Is it Cair-a-mel or is it Car-muhl?

In Boston it's Ca-muhl. There are no R's in our alphabet.

according to Oxford it is 3 syllables, which is the way I have always pronounced it...

Carmel gets my vote. Even if l didn't say it like that l would change because the stick from a previous post sounds mighty painful!

Down Here- it's pronounced with another 'H' in it (isn't everything?)

CaH-Muhl

But in higher society (i.e. country clubs, sushi bars, and barber shops, etc.) Leon & Webster are correct.
