It can be a condition sensitive scarcity or a regular scarcity. I have a small advantage as I like obscure stuff....Here is a 1 of 1...with the Sanders advertising on bottom....

Here is a 1940 Play Ball colorized proof. I have currently have four of them, but this is the only one I've managed to get graded. SGC supposedly graded just a few of them before a somebody with clout in the hobby started raising hell about them (that's the story I got from both GAI and SGC). I'm convinced they're real, and graders from both companies agreed with me, off the record ...

This 1933 Goudey card of Glenn Myatt is not scarce in general, but it is rather hard to find in top condition, partly because it is from the 'low number' series where inferior card stock was used:

Nice question! I don't have any pop reports, but pre-war I'll take a shot with my t206 Duffy Red Hindu.
Post-war I'll guess again with, oddly enough, a '49 Bowman Schoendienst with a slate/gray background printing error. They don't come up all that often on the secondary market (so says Beckett, anyway.)

Looking at all the photos my first question is define a baseball card? Anything with a player on it made out of paper? I've seen a Game Card/19th century advertising piece/postcard/CDV/Cabinet/Silk/Supplement/Die cut/and football player. So I guess I really do not know what to post???

I discovered this forum after this card found me, literally falling out of a hole my ceiling onto my head. It's a Universal Toy & Novelty Co. strip card circa 1929. I know it's pathetic, but I love it. And it is very rare, indeed.

It's all about having fun with what you collect. A card can really be anything you deem it to be. We all know there is no set definition of "card"....so go with whatever you want to call a card that is in your collection. It's all good.... regards

I initially wasn't going to post this because it's not pre-war, but a 1952 Num Num isn't any more off topic than a football card:

Here is mine, a t213-3 double-overprint error card. To my knowledge its the only time this error has been found where an overprint was struck in the middle of the card.

...and Paige's smile is an absolute joy -- priceless!

Also, any idea of the multiplier on the Bowmans?
It's funny, I never gave much thought to my scarcest (LEON, great topic) -- as opposed to most expensive (by today's value), but having to think about it I was surprised that maybe the Bowman errors really ARE my scarcest. Imagine that, with it all.

You exactly correct about the 1949 BOWMAN color error cards....they are very scarce. I have several
YELLOW backgrounds that should be ORANGE....including Ashburn and Rizzuto.

A few PINK cards (instead of RED's).

And, 18 - Lo#s that are SLATE (like the 4 I have on display, and your Schoendienst....I haven't seen
that one before).

And, 24 - Hi#s....including Snider's Rookie and Doby's Rookie.

It seems like these Broadleaf 460's are very scarce and carry a high premium. Does anyone know approximately how many exist? Just looking for a calculated guess, thanks.

As far as scarcity goes, I guess it would be my trimmed large size Gypsy Queen of Tim Keefe (picture posted in Keefe thread) and my 1928 Star Player Candy cards, one of which is Buddy Meyer. Meyer is a 1 of 1 as far as I know.

If you are including other itmes, I have an S-81 silk of Ed Walsh.

Some neat stuff on this thread. Nice Buffalo BB team cabinet, PA Ted, beautiful Matty, WonkaDude, never get tired of seeing ol' Joe Wood throwing smoke, John S, and cool ad back.
These are my two scarcest cards. (If the bride knew what I paid for them they might also qualify as my two scariest cards).
Stengel: 4 SGC, 3 PSA and probably a few raw ones floating around.
Gehrig: 86 SGC, 466 PSA but how many autographed by the Man?

Leon has three E92's listed with wrong backs, one of which is the same as yours, a menagerie. But no Mcgraw, so your in luck still 1 of 1 as far as i know...
Leon I noticed the SGC slabs say your Young and Magee were e101 and e102, looks like all they did was guess. Im almost positive there E92's too since these actually do show up with wrong backs. Have you talked to them about having these slabbed correctly?

Well, my rarest cards are Topps test issues (I'd say the 68 AL Plaks checklist is the rarest one I own or possibly the "no dugout" 68 3D Maloney)but for the good old stuff, I'd have to say (and it's not all that rare):

In really rough shape. And I'm thinking the time has almost come when I'll sell it. Just not sure if I'll use Goodwin, eBay, or what. Suggestions?

This card is not my most scarce (1903 astoria or matty orange would be)...

but here is one of my favorite scarcities -
a crazy tough card - and the highest grade given for the card -

I'm curious as to what you -- or anyone else on the board -- would expect that to bring at auction. The premiums are so rarely offered, I really don't have a base price from which to work. (Plus, I can start saving now if I have a ballpark figure.)
