Default Sporting News Back question

Posted By: Brian H

I recently obtained a 'teens Sporting News card (Ed Rousch #146) with an "Indianapolis Brewing" back.
Unfortunately, the front was not as nice as I'd hoped.
Is the back scarce ?
I know some of the other Board folks are into these (Leon etc).

Indianapolis Brewing is quite a scarce M101-4 back-- not the scarcest, but seen pretty infrequently. The badly damaged group that was recently on ebay is the largest single gathering of them that I've seen. However, the back premium will be a lot smaller given the overall rough condition of these.

Not seen too frequently. I would think a nice vg common would be $45-$60 .....on the ole 1-10 scale in rarity I would give it about a 6.5, but that's just an educated guess.....neat backs though....later

I don't know what the back is worth -- but I'd pay handsomely because I need a card of Wilbert from his managerial days

Ungraded, in true VG, I'd say the card would go for $85-125. But you never know with M101s-- the market for them is a lot less stable than with most major T-card sets.

Regards,

Tim

I paid slightly more than $180.00 for a Wilbert Robinson listed as EX, and which is probably EX- or VG-EX:

Mine has an Altoona Tribune back, which I believe is roughly equivalent to the Indy Brewing in terms of scarcity.

Tim is right--the market is not stable on these cards, at least the ones with an advertising back other than TSN. I would say that the HOFers seem to be steadily going up over the past 6-9 months, but the commons are hit and miss.
