Default Wing T Offense Reference

Hello Net54 football fans,

I am currently writing a book about a former Central Washington University football player from the 1960's. I am looking for a text, or internet article that covers the Wing T Offense.

This particular player was a fullback his freshman season, end his sophomore year, and guard as a junior and senior. Just looking for a reference for popular plays and defined roles in the offense, so I can write about each position with some accuracy. Two of his 1965 teammates were drafted or signed by NFL teams, end Byron "Big Daddy" Johnson drafted by the Dallas Cowboys (later played for the Continental Football League's Seattle Rangers), and tackle Wayne "Swanee" Swanson signed by the Houston Oilers despite being born without a left hand. All three were on the undefeated 1963 team, ranked #10 in the NAIA.

Thank you in advance gentlemen. You guys are the best

The Delaware Wing T, as developed by David Nelson. In this case, one of the half backs starts in the back field. The other (the wing back) almost always goes in motion towards the QB at the snap.

The "Delaware Wing-T" was created by longtime University of Delaware coach and NCAA Rules Committee chairman David M. Nelson, and perfected by his successor Tubby Raymond. It has become a very popular offense with high schools and small colleges. It was designed at the time to be a mix between the single wing and T-formation. It took the motion and run-strength of the single wing, and the QB-under-center from the T. In this variation, there is only one wing back, with the other back lined up next to the fullback on the opposite side from the wing back. However, the Wing Back may also line up diagonally from the Tight End. He may be used as an extra blocker or a receiver. He may come in motion for running plays.

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks Mike. Looks like I have some homework, before attending a local high school football game
