Default T202 rare error back?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/271537953161

Hello,

I did some research on these and found out that factory No. 30 printed red backs but as you see this one is from factory No. 30 and it has a black back. Any thoughts? Thank you

You may get better feedback on the main forum. Black Factory 30's are somewhat scarce but do exist.

Default Black 30s

At one point, I was tracking those but sort of let it slide in the past couple years. I'm pretty confident you can get complete sets in Black 649 and Red 30, but I'm not as convinced about Black 30s. I have a few cards that I have one of each, but trying to track down just Black 30s is pretty tough.

Take Care,
Geno

Default T202 back - thread reference

Here's a reference to a Net54 thread on the topic:

http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=168507

After a frustrating bit of searching via the Net54 forum search - knowing that Lee had posted a response, and including his Net54 username in the advanced search - I found nothing, gave up, and went to Google...

It took one try in Google to find that Net54 thread - as the top entry in the search results.

That's exactly what I'd done a year or two ago when searching for that same thread to reference it in a similar thread.

I have 40+ T202's, and 2 black 30's. Until now, hadn't noticed one come up for sale in a long time though.

Adding- haha-- I see I said the same thing the in the linked thread

Hello All,

Just wanted to chime in and say that yes the black factory 30 backs are scarcer. From the research I had done it seemed at 2% of the population. When I was tracking them I was able to confirm less than half with that back. I personally would bid with an added 20% premium but most times could get them at normal rates because either people didn't notice or care.

If I run across them I try to pick them up but have not followed very close since purchasing Sterling.

By the way the Sweeney card seems to be the most populous of the black 30 backs I tracked.

Hoping some day to rebuild my T202s with all the different backs possible.

Lee

I don't think there's any clear multiplier, but feel that maybe enough people know about them to create some added competition. I'd probably pay a little premium to land a few more, but hardly ever see them. I don't think I paid any premium for the two I have, nor was it even mentioned during the sales. Here's one of them (sorry for blurry pic)---

Default Premium

I agree about the premium…there really isn't one. In order to support a premium, there needs to be a demand, and there just isn't one at the moment.

Cheers,
Geno
