Default The Travels of "Large Ass" Herzog (photo log)

The Great Trade Chain continues. Herzog was sent in the mail today to the first trade partner.

Keep a lookout for your next chance to get in the game. Here we are in front of the Iowa State Capitol Building (photo by my 9-year-old daughter).

Default Buckys first travelogue

OK, I am the lucky first trader of the great BIG ASS bucky. The pictures will explain his adventure thus far:

2011-04-21_17-24-56_44.jpg

Bucky arrived this Easter weekend and was treated to a rousing welcome by Yo Gabba Gabba (Don't ask)

2011-04-21_17-47-05_735.jpg

Bucky's trip started off hairy as Baby Sean tried to immediatly eat him

2011-04-23_10-57-36_290.jpg

Bucky then participated in an Easter egg hunt with my son maxwell (Bucky got a laffy taffy and a dragon sticker)

2011-04-23_14-48-02_310.jpg
Then it was on to Lincolns tomb (I wonder how big Bucky's tomb is?)

2011-04-23_14-49-05_255.jpg
Bucky rubbed Honest Abe's nose for good luck (i didn't as its a breeding ground for disease)

Maxwell and Bucky share a poignant moment at the Korean War Memorial (Maxwell isnt saluting, he's actually hit breaking point on this whole "Take a picture with an old card" game)

2011-04-23_15-25-28_77.jpg
Maxwell and Bucky at the Illinois State Capital (I now know how Tiger Woods and Michael Jackson felt about their dads)

ok, Lets get some trading going. There is an offer for Bucky to go to SRI LANKA but its still a few weeks off so lets get a trade in between then. email me with what you got and make it good as Buckys value just skyrocketed! Its now worth ....something??

I wonder how plausible it is to get a photo of Bucky in front of all 50 state capitol buildings. I'd gladly take him on a tour of the Nebraska State Capitol.

Default Thank you for this fun and entertaining thread!

Hello my friends,
I just wanted to express my happiness over this fun thread!
I look forward to spending my days trying to feel better by participating in our hobby via this wonderful site. I am completely into this thread!
I look forward to seeing all the fun places and things that Buck Herzog is/will be doing! My grand-daughter (as well as the rest of the family) loved seeing the Easter egg hunt and the welcome party with those figures that my lil' grand-daughter quickly told me what and who they were!

PLEASE keep this thread going! I, for one, am very into this fun thread!

You have really hit a winner with this thread!

Thanks to all,

Bill Hedin

The Herzog is my favorite card in the T206 set and I would be more than happy to give the "Large Ass" example a tour of the Virginia state capitol.

awesome, glad your enjoying it Bill! Bucky is on the way to Todd and then Im pretty sure Josh is bringing old bucky to Sri Lank which will officially make this the farthest traveled t206 EVER! The goal is get Bucky into orbit after that!
Also, Don't forget as George mentioned, there is a cool little book that comes with it for you to put in your information to be saved for posterity!

Sorry folks, tough decisions to be made. We are going to have to make a choice between Sri Lanka/Maldives or Ecuador/Galapagos. I leave on May 17th and won't be back for a few weeks . . . I'd love to take Buck to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, but I'll leave it up to the group. If only we had had this thread up when I was in India last year . . . so sad.

On a related note, I have been to the Galapagos and had an amazing time. There is some really great diving down there! I am going diving in the Maldives and with any luck I will be seeing this:

Default I want in line too!!

Bucky sent me a letter saying that eventually he wants to make it to the thriving metropolis of Lucas, TX. I can take him to the city hall and maybe even speak in front of the council with him in hand. Regardless, I would like him to make his way here to Lucas in the future. Just put me in line in for a future showing. regards

Probably would be easiest for future bucky travel agents to look on this thread for who to contact next. Anyone know a celebrity?

We're climbing a few 14ers this summer. Maybe Bucky will tour Santa Fe and then become the first T206 above treeline.

Default Treeline

It's only about 5,000' around here, but we do have the world's worst weather and highest recorded wind speed. I'll give him a ride up Mt. Washington, NH.

Default Teammate Reunion

How about this one? I will be happy to take Buck to the Oklahoma State Capitol and snap a picture of him reuniting with his old teammate Jim Thorpe (painting).

It may not be as exotic as (anywhere else), but there might be a few tears shed!

Large Ass has found his way to the Old Dominion. I plan to keep company with him for the next couple of weeks. This hits along side a good run of business travel (local) so we'll see where he goes before he gets passed to the next carrier of the torch.

Mr. Herzog and I did some traveling today:

We visited:

The West Virginia State Capitol

The tribute to the West Virginia Miner

And Marshall University

I figure he'll hang with me another week or so so I can show him around my hometown of Roanoke, VA....but he'll be looking for a new home soon.

I do advertising and marketing. One of my clients is the Salem Red Sox. IMO they play in one of the most beautiful minor league ballparks in America. I had a meeting and then Large Ass an I headed out to watch a little BP.

One of the cool features of Lewis-Gale Field is a mini Fenway whiffleball park...I would love to see Leon and Ted Z square off in a home run derby.

SPECIAL OFFER TO NET 54 MEMBERS. If you get near Salem, VA and want to take in a game, just drop me a PM or email and i will send you four tickets.

Not a lot to report today...Mr. Herzog took in my son's high school baseball game. My son's team won 5-4 in the 7th. The most interesting part would be that they hit into a 6-4-3 TRIPLE play...not sure that isn't the first one i have ever seen live that wasn't of the rec-ball variety.

This weekend will probably be the last in Casa BBCARD1 as arrangements for travels of a more exotic variety are coming his way. But we'll get him to a couple more Roanoke Valley icons before he wings his way to his next home.

As it is the last weekend Buck will be visiting us, I stopped off for a couple of pictures on my way in to work a little...

The Mill Mountain Star is the iconic Roanoke "thing." Constructed in 1949, it is the world's largest freestanding illuminated star. I know an old guy who worked on the installation when he was a college student. The star is 88 feet tall. When illuminated at night, you can see it from pretty much all of the valley.

Opposite the star is an overlook. The picture does not do it justice, but old Buck enjoyed the view.

I was hoping to take Buck on a short hike on the AT, but it is not looking promising as he has to leave tomorrow. Tomorrow I will post some more personal pictures so you can see what his host family in Southwest Virginia looks like.

Not as exotic as the Maldives etc but perhaps when Bucky finishes touring a few State capitols he would enjoy seeing the Olympic flame in Vancouver?

Last day in VA....

My hound dog Bo contemplates his large assedness. Bo is a Redbone, an unusual choice for a suburban home, but enjoys it.

The BBCARD family enjoyed Mr. Herzog's visit.

I think Buck needs to travel to Miami and see South Beach in all the splendor it has to offer, neon lights, bikini contests, etc.

Send him my way when it is feasible and I will post some pics (maybe Leon will need to edit them if anyone has ever been to SoBe before!!

Last night in VA, I asked Buck what he wanted to do and he said he'd like to play a ballgame. So I dusted off the old APBA game and played the 1911 Giants vs. the 1911 As. Buck went 1-4 with an RBI and Matty got the win 4-0.

Next stop for Herzog, the Big Apple and points beyond.
