Default 1961 Nu Card Football

I need three cards to complete my 1961 Nu Card football set including the Ernie Davis RC. At the National I purchased a partial unopened box 19+ packs for $170 and will open it when I get home. Hey the guys who collect new cards spend $10 a pack, why can't I? More info when I get home.

That's awesome, Larry! Good luck on your box break and keep us posted.

Great seeing you at the National again.

Box break won't happen today. I am home, but still exhausted from the show. I'm updating my lists and filing cards away. The box break might require a little more skill than I can put into it today.

Larry I remember riding my Schwinn two blocks over to a small neighborhood grocery to buy those packs. I also remember finding the cards rather boring since it seemed like I got many, many dupes. I did however find the pennants exciting! I would look up each school in our old red World Book Encyclopedias to find out where they were!

There are three cards in the set that command a premium #117 Hadl #143 Davis and #168 Gabriel. I was hopeful to find #143 Ernie Davis to complete my set but came up short. I did find one card of John Hadl oh and the two other commons I needed for my set.

I was able to upgrade several of the cards that were in my set so that's a plus. Judging the condition of some of the cards would indicate that sometime over the past 57 years someone had a peek at these and I should have expected that I guess. All would have been well if I would have pulled that Ernie Davis card

Now does anyone need a Vern Von Sydow?

Larry
