Default E90-1 Yankees

Just a few questions about the E90-1 caramel set. First regarding the Keelers. The two poses color variations show him as a Yankee/American, and the horizontal as a Giant/National. I am wanting to pick up a Yankees team set from the E90-1 and am wondering if he played for both teams 1909-1911 or if the American League notation is in error.

Also, I use the teamsets4u site a lot for rosters/team members from various sets, and I find it to be fairly good, but it seems odd that there were only 4 Yankees listed, and a bit confusing that all three Keelers are listed as Giants. Is there really only four Yankees in the whole set?

And lastly back to the Keeler, there are many graded copies that denote "red" background that are actually pinker than ones with a "pink" notation. I have seen a few really distinctive red ones, but most often the pink ones just seem faded or washed out and SGC and PSA are flipping a coin half the time.

Thanks so much and my apologies if my questions/issues have been flogged to death in the past. For some reason I really like the portraits in this set more than others, and for some odd reason they just look great/charming in lower grades with wrinkling, off set etc. Odd observation, but that washed out pink Keeler with rounded corners and slightly askew is really cool in my opinion.

The red background portrait keeler is very tough to find...let alone in decent condition. Personally I have NOT seen many...if any pink background portraits mislabeled as red. The difference in background color between the normal "pinks" and the true red is quite dramatic.

Default E90-1 Keeler

The NY Highlanders released Keeler before the start of the 1910 season. The New York Giants acquired him as a Free Agent in May 1910.

The last series of the E90-1 set (which includes the Horizontal cards) was issued circa Summer 1910.

Will show off my red portrait. Much nicer than the grade gives it credit for!

Thanks so much guys for the info. So just to be clear Highlanders/Yankees in the E90-1 set are limited to Engle, Knight, Mitchel, Sweeney, and the Keeler portrait (which from your comments the Keeler portrait was a legit Amer. L. release, prior to the horizontal Nat. L. card after being picked up by the Giants. Correct?
