Default Colgans chips image variation

Posted By: Frank Wakefield

Some time back I noticed I had some duplicate Colgans chips. And then I noticed that the images were identical, but that the image on one card was quite larger than the other. Here are the two.

Anyone else notice image size variations?

I suspect that all images vary a bit. I suspect that as the cards were produced, someone moved an enlarger in or out, varying the size of the resulting image. Notice that the size of the type varies too. The backs are identical "violet chips and Mint chips" E254 backs.

Frank,

Interesting comparison. The text placement vary on both examples indicating (to me)that they are both originals. Steve F

up the road here in Louisville, I have the same two Selby's you do. In addition, I have one other player that has the big head/small head variation (also a Louisville player). Larry Fritsch or Mark Macrae might be able to elaborate on this some. (I think the other guy is Hughes, Louisville).

The colgan's ad from the Louisville Colonels program (which I still haven't sent you a copy of) pictures Selby in the smaller head version.......
