Default The new Elvis Stamp

I was at the Post Office today. Among other things, I decided to pick up a book of postage stamps. Since there was an, "Elvis is in the building" sign on the front door, I figured it would be neat to grab the new Elvis stamps.

When I took a look at the book, it became apparent that the USPS designed it to resemble a 45RPM record in a picture sleeve.

Very nice touch. It even measures correctly, as it pertains to picture sleeves for 7" records. Kudos to USPS for this (and other recent examples of) creativity.

Best regards,

Eric

Default Elvis

I ordered extra Elvis stamps for my Post Office so I would have plenty for my customers, but they aren't selling well. We had a good run on them for the first couple of days, but then the sales tapered off. Part of the problem is that people are used to the $9.80 books of 20 stamps, and the Elvis stamps only have 16 stamps on the sheet. Also people don't like the picture of Elvis. They do like the "45" look.

The Elvis CD's that were made for the PO sold out right away.

I understand if people collect them, but if you're just buying stamps to put on letters to mail, who cares what they look like, I don't get it.

Had the stamp been created to look like a ticket to a Chiefs game, with a photo of Reg Dunlop on it, THAT would have been cool.
