Hello Scott,

Many people have the 33 Goudey Ruth card(s). This is more of a statis symbol item in my eyes. I like the flip books like the Wheaties one from the thirties. Where else can you get 100 photos of Ruth and not pay more than a couple hundred bucks. Any Ruth in a Boston uniform is nice as well... Probally cost you a little bit more though. 1921 Exhibit is nice an affordable as well... JC

While not a prewar issue, the Topps 1954 Look n See Ruth is relatively inexpensive to obtain. My 2cents.

One of Ruth's strip cards has a really nice portrait photo of him that won't set you back an arm and leg, even in top shape.

I would highly recommend the E121 American Caramel "photo montage" card of Ruth. It's always been one of my favorites. A very similar card is available in the E126 set, but is more scarce and more expensive.

If you collect large-size cards, you might also consider the R-309-1 Goudey premium. It is an awesome card, with a full body swinging pose of Ruth surrounded by a gold frame.

Not feeling able to wade in the deep waters most of the Babe's 20s-30s cards go for, I settled for one of the Sanella margarine 'cards'- like the one in this current Ebay auction.

I think it's a nice image, I like that the back is in German (so strange given what was starting to go on there to think of them celebrating an American) and again- it was issued while he was still playing.

Don't know how I forgot about the r309 Ruth. Great looking card and it is large. About 9" x 5". I got mine for $75. You can't argue with a vintage Ruth card for under $100.

Sorry, but I love the #53 '33 Goudey. I no longer own one, but wish I did. An American classic.
