Default Shoeless Joe Jackson bat on Ebay

Something seems odd about this. One the seller has never sold anything before. And now it appears they purchased something from Shoeless Joe and Elvis, and his focus on South Carolina's illeteracy is an odd sales angle.

What on earth were they thinking as they keyed in the shipping cost?

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't think that Joe was soooo poor that he had to sell one of his bats at a ball game. He played and managed several semi-pro teams for many years as well as owning several businesses until his death (dry cleaning, restaurant, and liquor store). Does the guy that's selling the bat have a last name of Halper?

Just a simple question - Would bats for a local textile company in the 30's have the player's names on them?

Seller has had the bat for over 50 years, it was purchased from Jax by his gardner. Manny Ramirez doesn't want him to sell it, and Don Zimmer authenticated it.

You MUST email this guy, it's awesome!

Holy Cow, he's a Vanderbilt!! Must have been the one they didn't bother educating. No worries about this bat, he's going to sell it to David Ortiz. Ortiz must trust The Gerbil's authenticating prowess, even if there is a 4 stamped on the knob. (Shouldn't Ortiz still be spending his time looking for whoever duped him into taking steroids??)

I tell you what, it's raining and the Tribe just lost two. This is just what I needed to put a smile on my face!

The seller took down the original listing "due to an error" and just re-listed an equally strange new listing.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shoeless-Joe...item232b6427b8

At the end of the listing he seems to be addressing people by name, crazy.

He also has a guitar supposedly played by Elvis, but of course with no real proof. The questions are awesome.

I posted a question to the original bat auction telling the guy "thank you for making me laugh".

He responded "With me or at me what's up with the message?"

I told him "Funny things make me laugh, your new posting of this bat makes me laugh, too."

I guess he's continuing his research and adding new details as he goes

What do the photos of gold bars and diamonds have to do with anything though? Are those accepted forms of payment for this treasure?

This is too funny, quite the intelligent seller we have here with such a "valuable" rare item.

What gets me is the seller says he owns an estate and that the bat belongs to his gardener yet when you look at the items he has previously bought and sold they are mostly inexpensive auto parts and tools.

Seems to me if you had an estate and your own gardener that you wouldn't be working on your own automobiles or, if you were, you wouldn't be wasting your time schlumping around on eBay trying to get the lowest price on items you need.

I can't help but think that this is a previously undiscovered episode of The Twilight Zone...

Here is one of my favorite weird lines in his listing:

"Sportscasters are discouraged along with palmetto area bidders as this is a Pro Only item."

LOL

I like this one: I am available for inquirers here and am relocating so I may have to take the item down until totally resettled.
I guess with listings like this you would like to keep moving around.

They should have better security in the mental institutions in S.C.
Obviously this guy has escaped or has stopped taking his meds.

In all seriousness his postings on ebay do in fact appear to be made by someone that is mentally ill.

I wouldn't say mentally ill, but here's how I imagine him being questioned.

That has to be the weirdest, muti-subject, spacecase, rambling ebay ad I have ever read. Strange beyond reality.

Do you think the gold bars and glass diamonds are included with the bat?
