I always wondered why they didn't just call him the manager. Some egalitarian thing? NFL wannabe?

The Cubs had a "college of coaches" system from 1961 to 1965, a rotation of eight different coaches in 1961 and 1962, and one "head coach" from 1963 to 1965, Bob Kennedy. Elvin Tappe replaced Kennedy halfway through the 1965 season. It was a disaster, Leo Durocher was named manager for the 1966 season.

Left wing utopian nonsense sounds like lol.

For 10 points name Elvin Tappe's four cards.
