"AND NO LOCAL PICKUP DUE TO THE VALUE OF THE CARD."

In an unrelated issue - doesn't ebay have a list of cards that are not allowed to be sold raw?
http://cgi.ebay.com/1933-GOUDEY-53-BABE-RUTH-ROOKIE-CREASES-YET-NICE-NR_W0QQitemZ310076816611
Perhaps the rules are different when you are a powerseller who chooses to pay the premium listing fees that ebay would lose should they decide to cancel your listings.

It is the same card that Leon had. I didn't realize Leon had sold it, but I checked his website and it's the same card he has listed in his personal collection.

"why would someone sell a card like this im in a eviction situation if your willing to help me ill unlist my card but i need money oh and why does it trouble you you are not obligated to bid are you?"

I did sell that card, which I believe originated from the Corson collection, on one of the biggest BST auction sales I have seen. It went to another board member who is a little more private and I won't divluge anymore than that. It is a great card but that ebay person is far from having it....regards

No doubt its a great card but if I were going to use a "STOCK" photo, I certainly would NOT have picked that one.. but I suppose they needed one with creases...   I guess I am not a good scam artist because I would grabbed a PSA 8 stock photo and really went for the bank roll...   what do I know.

Marty - if you went for the 8 it would be too good to be true and no one would believe you actually had the card; the 2 is much more convincing.

She owns a $50,000 baseball card but she is being evicted. Why not sell the card before the eviction goes into effect? What an idiot.

I have been going back and forth with this person who claims to be "lori Maxwell" in email for a bit and oddly enough I got a Yahoo IM request from someone named "Stephen ***"...I complied with the request, but that person denied me immediately. I googled his name and it comes up with a postcard dealer in New Jersey. Coincidence? Maybe, but I've been an Yahoo IM for years and have never gotten a request from someone I don't know.

I just sent this person this mesg.:

Wow! Not only are you a scam artist about to go to jail if you recieve money for this card, but you are an idiot!! You spell like my 1 year old daughter. Anyone who would really own this card would be able to spell. You should do a google search for Ebay baseball card fraud and check out the prison sentences being handed down to scam artists like yourself. Good luck!

As some of you might remember I was ripped off by a Ebay scammer on a 52 Mantle card. I would love to get one of these people put into jail!!!!

Get your looks while you can....I went ahead and reported it. Some time ago ebay asked me to join a special group for reporting fraud in sports cards and memorabilia, as they know a little about me (their loss ). I don't really report much but when I do they usually take care of it. Idiot seller should go to jail imo......

Darn! I was thinking of placing a bid because you know, it is free shipping and they have 1 total feedback and they have changed their ebay id in the last 30 days. Perfect when I am comptemplating a 20k plus purchase!

Egads....These just keep getting dumb and dumber all the time.

Michael, I hadn't even noticed that they changed their ebay handle....His old handle had the name "Steve" in it. Interesting isn't it? Just another coincidence?

A further Google search of Stephen *** pulled up his high school picture...he graduated in 1959 which would make him 66 or 67 years old. Too old for a scam like this?

After what card is bought? He/she doesn't even own it. If the supposed winning bidder gets scammed for 50K he probably won't leave really good feedback.

They do get hijacked, but that would have nothing to do with someone named "Steve" trying to IM me on Yahoo while I'm having a back and forth email conversation with the seller who also uses Yahoo mail.

edited to add: I think this person accidentally IM'ed me when they were trying to send an email instead.

I actually now think that it was a coincidence that this guy tried to IM me...I've been in contact with him and I'm fairly certain he is not the perpetrator of the fraudulent ebay auction.

The majority here know these two are reprints, but on the off chance you're new to collecting the T206 set, avoid these Cobbs (see links) like the plague. The "AUTHTCT?" flips are an interesting touch, though I'm not sure where they came up with the last "t" in authentic.

Anthony,

"?AUTHTCT" is PSA shorthand for "Questionable Authenticity." Thus, the third "t".

Someone tries to defraud the public selling a high $ card
they do not own and all eBay does is remove the auction.
Would be great if charges were pressed like in the real
world if you do a crime of this magnitude.
