This series is related to the more obscure (and costly) Novelty Cutlery Postcard series which featured the same photographs (B&W, not sepia) surrounded by an ornate frame.

This sepia series is featured in the current VCBC, by the way.

Here are examples of two from this postcard set (the Lajoie, mentioned above, as well as an Evers-Schaefer card). There were two cards featuring two players (the other being Cobb-Wagner). Interestingly, both depict players who competed in the 1908 Tigers-Pirates World Series:
