Default Question Regarding Grading Criteria

Yesterday at a show, I found a really nice version of 1974 Topps #1, the Hank Aaron Homerun King card. It is in a lot nicer shape than the one I have currently, but I got the notion in my head that maybe if I got it graded I could flip it for more than the $20 I paid for it. However, there is a slight loss of paper and a small pen mark on the back. Does anyone have a feel for how PSA would adjust the grading for such imperfections?

Here is a couple scans of the card. You can see the paper loss in the upper right hand corner and the pen mark in the lower left hand corner.

Default Slab= No

Inmho I would not grade this card. it is not rare, has two of the TPG "deadly"flaws and would likely come back with a qualifier and a low grade despite it's nice eye appeal. Just me, but grading would be going backwards here.
If you think this card is nicer than your other copy, sell the lesser for 10-15... and you'll have a good looking 74 Hank for a cheap price.
Good luck collecting!

Looks like a card that might eventually grade as a "9" if you send it in enough times.

Insert smiley face here.

Default Grading

To say that Doug is a fan of grading would be known as a sarcasm
