$3600 +. I wonder if an uncancelled version would go for quite a bit more

Default Tommy John

Ricky---what is the John variation ? The proof card of him as Yankee ?. Hope the forum police from the main board do not get mad at us about cross forum posting :-)

here is a tough proof...Martin versus Howser as Yankee manager. Sorry about poor scan

The 1949 Lummis Peanut Butter Phillies has to be one of the rarest post war sets, and I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned in this list.

In 15-20 years, I've seen perhaps one example of most players from the set -- but check auction catalogs, VCP, etc. -- these cards simply do not turn up in any way, shape or form

Hi Al, yeah I meant the Tommy John Proof Card... where he's shown as a Yankee instead of the Angels.... I think I saw one on sale once a few years ago...but since then..nada...

Has anyone mentioned the 1967 Asland Maloney card? Here's some history on it. http://boblemke.blogspot.com/2009/09...shland_12.html

Anyone have a picture of the Mazeroski card? I've never seen one of those.

For whatever reason the Bill Mazeroski and the Ron Santo are rarer than the others, I'm still looking for a Santo.

Default 1968 Mays Plak

1968 Mays Plak was listed at the beginning of this thread - Does someone here own or have a picture of it? Larry? Awesome thread - glad it got revived

Anyone know or want to speculate why the 1958 Kahn's set is so darn difficult compared to any of the other sets 1957, 1959, etc?

How about the 1969 Rawlings Promo card of Brooks Robinson? I have only seen one... The Reggie card seems a little more common.
Anyone have any ?

I haven't seen another as well; just the one in your collection. I've seen a Rawlings Mantle and Jackson, but that's it.

Do you have Ralph Garr....er, Gaar.....er whatever?

A couple of others that are eluding me:
1954 Bowman Morrie Martin (44 ERA) -- can someone show me one?
1959 Kahn's Harvey Haddix
1962 Salada stupid variations
1969 Topps Pirates Rookies (no outline)
1991 Leaf Gold Rookies (numbered)

Also, if anyone can show a scan of the 1962 Kahn's Bob Purkey no autograph card, please do. Larry, have you actually seen one?

Bob---try Deans Cards and COMC on the Martin, where they have back scans on their inventory. I got mine from Deans

I think Darren here ( jollyelm) may have a 69 Pirates Rookies to trade. I could be wrong. I know he has one. He does not sell, just trades but has a large want list in his BST for trade thread ( 1960s forum). Can not remember where I got mine

Thanks for posting those 1968 Atlantic Oil cards, Rhett. On looking at them I realized that I had a third SP, the Wilson. Nice to find that out!

Default 55T Jackie Robinson blank back

Yes, I had to make sure it was real

In all seriousness....I really don't think Ive ever seen this card before

I saw a 55T blank back Snider was just auctioned off in Huggin/Scott

Obviously, I had to come from a factory sheet ?..I guess ??

Not necessarily. Topps sometimes accidentally misprinted and released cards. I've pulled a blank back from a pack. In 1971. If it was factory cut it was a mistake not scrap.

I've got blank backs as far back as the fifties. Until relatively recently they were considered junk.

Not junk at all, Ralph. I said "until recently". There is a market, definitely for HOFers with player collectors. I know I paid up pretty good for a Hank Aaron BB card because I collect Hammerin' Hank and it just fit perfectly with my collection. Your JR is the same way; it will sell for sure but it just may not blow the doors off when you put it up for sale. Heck, I'd like to own it.

Has anyone ever seen a 1960 Kahn's Ron Kline card with Pittsburgh on the back? It used to be in the Standard Catalog, and it's still included on some online checklists. I've not seen one.

I don't think it can get any rarer than this. I haven't seen another in cut form. If anyone else has, please let me know.

Maybe not rarer but definitely nothing creepier

How can you tell? All I get is the "update your account to allow third party hosting" ad.

Steve-- I think it was the Steve Wilkie Topps 1971 Winners card. He posted it in here in a separate thread specifically on that set. It was unknown until it showed up on an uncut sheet that expanded the then existing checklist by several cards. The link in the last post of that thread includes a discussion about whether this is a set for pedophiles so I am not saying if I have any or not :-)

Well that makes a bit of sense. The photobucket links weren't working at all.
