The photos were taken by a Forbes Field usher. He was quite prolific with his camera. I have over 100 of them, and I've seen more than 100 others. Most were taken in Forbes Field, but some were taken in the Polo Grounds, Wrigley Field and Crosley Field as well. The photographer labeled most, but not these and a handful of others ...

As has been seen, many of these exist signed as well. They date from 1939-41 as far as I have seen, as the usher managed to capture several one-year wonders between the dates mentioned.

I think the first photo in the second post is John Rutherford.

Default ID Players

The one Cincinnatti player is Johnny Riddle. He played for the Reds in '41, '44, '45 so that should help date your photos. See: http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...iddljo02.shtml for another photo of him

Nice work, Bob and Whitey. As for John Rutherford, I have my doubts. For a variety of reasons, I'm pretty certain my photos date no later than 1941, and Rutherford only played in 1952. As for the others, the top photo appears to be Jimmy Wasdell, and the second from the bottom is likely Ray Spencer. I have no idea about the others. Here's a few unidentified Cardinals as well. Thanks for the help ...
