Default Clay panel in LOTG

https://loveofthegameauctions.com/Lo...entoryid=15135

G to VG condition as described. Sold for close to 3K. Mind-boggling to me.

I know everyone should collect what they like, but I think I would rather have the Babe Ruth montage card that sold at LotG for $1,200 less.

That is a ridiculous price. Now this panel is in G-VG condition, because there are creases in it, but are they going through the Clay? If not, then it can be cut out and will end up getting a high grade (if done properly).

$2,829...wow. I imagine the consignor is going crazy today.

The main flaw with the Clay usually is creasing from being in the binder. I bought a complete set in binder years ago and that was the flaw with my Clay. The card that sold looks like the binder crease just missed the Clay. Might still be able to get a numerical grade if cut properly and given what those have gone for lately in higher grades, I guess a couple of bidders decided it was worth a shot.

I guess I know one card that is going into my showcase at the National this year. If anyone wants mine for $2K now and no BP, please PM me. Seriously.

I would pay a few hundred, but not $3K. I don't trust my cutting ability enough to believe I'd somehow turn it into a PSA10.

PWCC just sold a complete set of the panels for $300-ish - the Clay had some creasing that would make it G-VG, but that is the reasonable price for this. NOT almost $3K!
